to ask for some clarification, i'm on ILP. in my policy statement, i see the tab 'Policy Value/ Total Investment Value' of XX value. can i confirm, if this XX is surrender value?

@ping325
@lifebalance

thanks for the replies. yes you know it right it's GE. how do i surrender the policy? can it be done online?
*
hi kucingfight, yes the Total Investment Value is the current value in your policy. of course when you surrender it, there is a chance you won't get the exact value because it depends on upon processing, what is the fund price at that time. But it wouldn't differ a lot UNLESS market crash hard? usually it won't la.

there are few ways to surrender it, when you have the forms and documents ready, you can either submit it via eConnect or go to branch office to surrender it via customer service (remember to make appointment via their website) or you can contact your agent, it's just 2 sets of forms and your photocopy of IC.

*do take note if got beneficiaries (parents/spouse) or trustee, they need to sign on the surrender form as well. wink.gif

My agent came and give me a form below named Revision in Exclusion Clause Reply Slip.

[attachmentid=11160404]

After i read, i decided to not sign it but my agent tell me it is compulsory? Is this true?
*
QUOTE(ys671 @ May 27 2022, 09:55 PM)
Guys, i know what this form for. My main question is, is this compulsory to sign? From what others reply here, it looks like this is optional. Haiz. Always met dishonest agent.
*
hi ys671, this form is not compulsory to sign. However it is good because with the removal of that exclusion, if you are admitted to hospital due to covid category 3/4/5, your admission can be applied with Guarantee Letter (aka cashless admission). Most of my friends are so willing to sign this for their own good. wink.gif

Hi lifebalance, thanks for your reply!

I wonder in that case, would you advice from your opinion, what happened to the policy between last rider ceased at 2057 and 2069?
Wonder if it would be advisable to withdraw the remaining cash balance from the policy after 2057?
*
hi dotax, answered in spoiler above wink.gif if there is no difficulty in paying premium, it will be more advisable to keep the plan even after 2057. i believe there will be certain bonus accumulated in the policy if death occurs. if your aunt has the policy book, then you can study the benefits in details. if can keep the policy for so long, it is always more beneficial to keep it.

check the fine print in the contract document. do you have the name of your critical care insurance? might be able to check online for you if you are able to provide the name.

does anyone know what is the process to re-appeal my loading for overweight with GE plan? 6 years ago I was charged loading for being overweight, now after years of exercise I am super lean and in the normal rating now, what is the process to appeal to get the loading removed? Do I goto a branch to get it settled? Or need email them first?
*
hi perfect10, there is a form that you can fill up to waive premium loading and submit. then company will then issue letter of request for you to do the require medical check-up to review.

is medical card covered few millions considered over insured?

i am thinking i might probably half dead if i have disease that need few million to cure.....
*
hi wawasan2200, for medical card, it is good to have at least a million prepared. that big sum is to prepare for very critical illnesses say cancer. cancer claims can come out to very high amount. the latest claim that i dealt with back in february till now, the total bill will come to a near 500k (chemo sessions + surgery). these are the big bills that we want our medical card to cover for. wink.gif

thanks for the info.
is one allowed to claim from two different CI policies, whereby both are from different insurance companies ?
*
hi no6, CI plans that are purchasable via online mostly covers only a few critical illnesses (most of it only covers 5 - cancer, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and coronary artery bypass). and yes, so long one is diagnosed with critical illness that meets the criteria stated in the contract critical illness terms, then yes can claim from any policies bought (multiple policies from different companies so long it fulfills the terms)

Comprehensive coverage of 50 critical illness conditions consists of 20 Early Stage and 30 Advanced Stage, i.e. carcinoma in-situ, insertion of Pacemaker, Alzheimer's Disease etc.

nice info found! yea this is relatively quite new. very likely other companies will follow suit to release online CI plans like this. thumbsup.gif

I think I did read postings before, mentioning... Online purchase such products usually has lower coverage amount than through agent
*
the max can be bought is 250,000 coverage. so if need coverage lesser than that, i think yea one can apply plan like this online. only thing to take note is the premium over the years. so long buyer is aware of that (premium rate table is in the brochure), then yea i think that shouldn't be a problem. wink.gif

Is it better to utilize the services of an insurance broker rather than an insurance agent?

As I understand, brokers represent consumers while agents represent insurers.
*
hi raynman, most importantly, you know that the representative (be it agent, advisor, broker) really care and stand from your point of view and propose something that you want/need. I wouldn't say who is better or not, if you can approach a few, compare yourself, you yourself judge who is the one you want to take care of your insurance/financial planning

Yup. Understandable. 250k is abit low. Do try ask HLA. Maybe they have better medical plan but not until 1mil annual limit.

For comparison, i can share with you my HLA plan even though mine is not the same plan. My annual limit is 120k. Lifetime limit 720k. It's low relatively but really we dont need 1mil also la. I would prefer higher too. Maybe >300k is peace of mind. 1mil is marketing la. Sell you things you dont need.
*
basically, i wouldn't say its marketing. insurance is really not the things we need when we are healthy. but like you say yea it is good to have at least 300k for now. so far we do not have claims that exceeded 1m. the biggest medical claim is close to 500k (more than 120days hospitalisation). if really can afford to get at least 1m, it is good to have. we dont need it now but this is something to prepare for long term when we are healthy wink.gif at least you have 120k which i think it is better than nothing. that risk is still transferred to insurance companies thumbsup.gif

Hi, anyone can let me know the premium of a life insurance with 5mil coverage pls? Male, smoker, 44 this coming Nov. Can the premium be paid in said 5 years rather than throughout the policy enforcement. Looking to leave a handsome sum to my family once I turn into dust.

Said I want it to last till 80. What happened if I still survive by then? What do you recommend? Till 100yo? What is the premium amount we are looking at?
*
hi glamoroussoul, the total premium will be around +-1.3m for it to last till 80 y/o. if you survive by then and if you don't need this protection anymore, you can terminate the plan and take whatever cash remainder. if you wanna extend, then need to top up so it can last till 100 y/o. wink.gif

hi JOMMAKAN, what you have is quite adequate. cant really recommend or advise you because we dont understand your situation much. perhaps you can discuss further with your Allianz/AIA agent. it all depends a lot on what liability you have, your concerns, your monthly lifestyle, etc.

hi rexus, the reading is at borderline, you can try to apply first (if you wanna get insurance), likely insurance company will ask you to do a simple check on hba1c and they will decide again with the new reading. like you said, meanwhile implement healthier diet and habit.

Hi so if 1 million limit can cover the whole treatment for cancer until cure including consultation, examination fees and take home drug?. Or it's only until the post hospitalisation 60/90 days only?
Also I think now only pru and allinz promoting they provide all this advance cancer treatment, which will be nice if they can support us till end
*
hi Aghi, yes the Outpatient Cancer Treatment for newer medical cards now includes consultation, examination fees and take home drugs. it is not limited to post hospitalisation days limit because the treatment is categorized under a separate benefit which is "Outpatient Cancer Treatment" of the medical card. wink.gif

Be prepared to fork out more money ya. 300 to 400 a month is very optismistic. Even if you can buy at 300 or 400 per month, then likely 65 /66 will increase price.

My advice is apply to more than 1 company at the same time, see who accept. If one of them decline, then you can assume all will decline. So better tembak a few if can. Save time.
*
yeap true enough at that age need to prepare a lot for premium. so long no health condition and is healthy, still can apply for medical insurance. so far the oldest that I'd applied for is at the age of 68. of course super healthy. biggrin.gif

mine is a ILP, but their estimated lifespan is till 40~50 years, will it be possible for them to lock in to a 100 years by me paying a higher premium? I'm just hoping if I am able to lock in the costs as I'm pretty sure when i hit 40-50 it will be damn expensive.
*
hi HumbleBF, i believe you are notified through the annual sustainability notice you received early in the year right? if yes, check is it also stating that you are advised to top up an X amount of premium for the policy to sustain until certain age.

Hi, can know which insurance company can cover for platelet rich plasma (prp) treatment for joint/muscle pain (not cosmetic purpose ya).

Cos i heard many company dont include it under their coverage
*
hi Aghi, this prp treatment is through injection? and will this be a long term treatment as well?

I have no experience in this but from what I found out, if the treatment is through injection, then it is considered an outpatient treatment (no admission/surgery involved). but if you currently have a medical card, the only way to find out is to go through the treatment and submit a claim and see what is the outcome of the claim.
