For me, my strategy is to link only 1 debit card to all my online/cashless transactions. And in that debit card I will only put a maximum of RM1000 (which is the maximum amount that I can afford to lose if handphone hilang or apps kena hack). I never trusted myself with a credit card or feel a need to have one.

yeah , last time I used to lock my card and it always ask OTP for every purchase. but then soon after that it doesnt ask OTP anymore, like straight away charge (dont have the Mastercard payment website thingy), the security is really bad (idk shopee or the mastercard)

after that i dont wanna link my card anymore, just pay with online banking.

i also cant trust myself with CC and last time not planning to get. but then i suggest once you eligible, better apply and set the lowest limit. Because in debit, if anything happens, bank doesnt wanna help much if theres unverified transaction. but with CC, since its their money and we havent pay, they are more willing to help with any unverified transaction.

last time my debit i kena unverified transaction one time and the only thing they suggest me is just fill in dispute form and they say might take 2months to resolve

Maybe you need to check if it's a PC or gadget that you used to log on to Shopee before. Every new login seems to require a SMS to your phone.

Best practice is probably to clear the cookies from any 3rd party computer that you use to log on or just use private browsing.
*
Actually u can turn OFF OTP login but u need to do it from desktop seller centre.
Thats what i do for my dupe account (simcard expired) and i do have CC linked inside but afairemember each time use CC to pay need bank OTP, except topup shopeepay no need OTP. Not sure why some ppl says their CC payment no need OTP

QUOTE(ballistix89 @ Jan 13 2021, 08:10 AM)
once the credit card is saved no OTP is required for subsequent purchases.

TS probably forgot to log out from another device and someone else had access to his/her account. Since if hacker login from new device shopee will require verification code sent via SMS.

is this your own experience? could you advise which bank CC u using?
I use MBB, UOB, CITI, PBB all need OTP

for sake of convenience once you register tour CC / DB to shopee/lazada they only ask OTP one time. then the subsequent transaction does not require OTP.

it will only ask for OTP after every few months.

convenient yes, secure no.

so after finish transaction delete your card from the platform.
lazy = high risk.

It's possible. There's a disclaimer when you add the card that an OTP may not be needed for purchase and you have to agree with it if you want to add the card in. Used to be that only Lazada did that, but seems like Shopee is doing it now.

I just purchased a few days ago using PBB card and no OTP was needed for Shopee.

Look like every 6 month this topic will crop up. The prevention is very simple => Remove your CC detail from Shopee after the transaction is completed.

TS is it your own family misuse then now u claim foul and try to get your money back without implicating them in the process? Could be an ex-bf or brother reloading and buying gaming stuff...

They could have access to her hp, or maybe she used their hp to link her shopee account or she left her shopee account at their phone
Cant think of why it could be done. When I log in to shopee account using other's they will definitely send otp to ask me am I trying to login with new device. If I click no, cant proceed.
then when pay time also they will ask for your password, someone must have known her password.

If you claim foul kan..I think both shopee IT and bank IT side can show proof that it wasn't hacked one wor..

But if it was really hacked, I'm really really sorry for the above and pray that that you get your money back because 8K is a lot

For game cards, still can cancel orders?
BTW can still use bigpay to reload shopeepay? If yes then can freeze BP when not reloading better than using debit card.
