unfortunately thats their processing sop! generally  from experience it reaches customer around 10 days. But the upgrade itself is done within a day or two. You could check your speed once the activation is completed

I want to add please DO NOT follow their instructions of connecting like this

Modem -> stock router -> deco mesh

and instead do

Modem -> deco mesh

It's better and you can find guides for it easily online (PPPoE mode is the keyword)

Just curious, what was your finding? I tried both, it didnt make any difference on my setup.
*
Well, my reasons for doing so is to avoid Double NAT, have conflicting wifi and let the more powerful deco mesh handle the routing.

Since no where in the instructions is the stock router wifi ever disabled so that's unnecessary interference

TM just remotely turned on the 5ghz wifi on my Netis router, TR069 is real lol
*
No option to disable it?
on my maxis stock router I can disable it with the root account

I had to disable that otherwise their TR-069 system keeps pushing the incorrect PPPoE credentials to my router and kills internet connection.

Hi...abit of a basic question. Just got fiber that came with a BTU thingie. Can I replace TM provided router with my own?

Reason is ----and I'm not sure if the line or router problem, but my connection would drop for no reason for a few miliseconds randomly. And some MMO game I play without any problem before on VDSL suddenly would disconnect after like 3 minutes.
*
The Huawei/FibreHome/ZTE branded box is the fibre modem and you can't replace that

However yes you can replace the router which is usually either TP-Link/Dlink or AZ-Tech branded

there's guides out there on the internet on how to

Alright thanks. Gonna look for better router than the one they gave.

TP-Link AX series of routers are pretty good, Asus also but asus ones are more expensive

they should be on discount during 10.10

Hi, yesterday unifi installer came to install 800mbps package for my shop. Upon first tm speedtest using iPhone 11 Pro via 5ghz connection I only manage to get around 300mbps plus download and 100mbps plus upload. The technician told me it’s normal since I am not using the latest device. So today I brought in my ps5 and connect via CAT 6 cable directly to the router, with no any other concurrent connection (wired or wireless). I get a speed test result of 600mbps plus download and 100mbps plus download. Just wondering is this suppose to be the speed I am getting from the package? Please refer to the photo attached and any advice is highly appreciated, thank you!

Replace with own router, stock router not good

"latest device" is just an excuse when their stock router cant do good

You have sharp eye, the uploaded photo of speed test is captured using iPhone 7. Herby I attached the screenshot of speed test of my iPhone 11 Pro at close range. Basically no difference😂
So I should be contented if my AC 5ghz speed can hit a 500mbps I guess, even though I am expecting higher. I have contacted my unifi installer telling them if they can bring their “lastest device” to do speed test at my router and if they can hit close to 800mbps, I will let thing pass. After hearing this, the technician told me he will be bringing me a new tp link router and test again for me tomorrow, if every thing goes well, I can keep the tp link router for the time being until my M9 mesh Wifi come in. Thanks again for explaining to me and I really appreciate all the advice given. Let’s see how it goes and I will update here again!

haha he knows he's busted

Tbh it was bad pairing for him to give you the FiberHome router in the first place

It would have worked fine on 30/100/300 mbps plans, but pretty bad on your 800mbps plan

Also, when you do get the mesh, disregard TM's instructions of connecting like this
Modem -> router -> mesh

Instead throw the router out a window and connect like so
Modem -> mesh

It should have better peformance

switch to which one? icon_idea.gif  I think the only possible would be time, maxis by default private ip and only if u submit a reasonble request. Digi, celcom, allo all private ip by default
*
I guess it depends on which cs agent you reach but I got Public IP on Maxis without even providing a reason
Just requested for it and got it

Looking at the FAQ doesn't seem like that will work

since one of the lines mentions this

However, during the migration exercise, there might be a downtime of
2-5 minutes. The migration exercise will be done in stages starting
from mid September 2021 until January 2022, weekly between 2am –
4am.

So they'll probably just kick you offline and move you over

rip. such a shame. I remembered using cf dns with constant 4ms and been my unquestioned default in the last three years.

Only recently when I switch to new ISP I bothered to check it again, and surprised it went 13ms  ohmy.gif .
*
For me on Maxis Fibre I'm getting 17ms to Cloudflare, SG server

Worth giving Quad9 a shot? I get 7ms with them

I always perceive quad9 as the most trustworthy of popular dns servers out there. But when I use it on Digi few months back it could get flaky sometimes, like one every 50 requests won't resolve in first try. You should try it however.

In trying alternate-dns currently. 5ms but not very sure how stable it is yet. Has as blocking baked in but no fancies like dnssec.
*
Yeah they do have some odd issues especially with ECS enabled, I had 2 websites that just wont resolve with quad9 with ecs (9.9.9.11)
Ended up just using normal 9.9.9.9

it's mentioned inside that; it needs to pair with FiberHome SR1041Y model to form mesh.
so someone need to sacrifice, be guinea pig to test it out first.
*
Looking at FCC listing, seems like it's Mediatek powered

https://fccid.io/2AV2N-SR1041Y/Internal-Pho...-Photos-5033509

Most wifi 6 routers out there (eg maxis kaon, tplink, asus) all use Broadcom...

I think it's depending on your area's infrastructure, but usually it's either Huawei, FibreHome or ZTE

They can't provide symmetrical speed for even 500mbps and below. What do you guys think upload speed will be for 2gbps? 500mbps upload?
*
GPON tech limit is 2.4Gbit down and 1.2Gbit up

with that said normally they use splitters to split up so that 1 cable can be used by many subscribers

if you subscribe 2Gbit almost need dedicated cable
plus modem need to be 2.5gig lol (current one is gigabit)

probably only offered on new infra places if it does exist
also the price would probably be pretty high
