Very disappointing to see there is still no fix for the silly " AUTO-HDR for everything " and SDR baseline .
The current state for PS5's visual output is a mess , to say the least . While HDR remained botched for several high profile games like AC : V , Cyberpunk2077 and so on , the SDR output of the PS5 is problematic per se .
Running several REC 709 brightness / contrast test will reveal to you that PS5 's SDR is too dark and crushing black details . Just when you thought you can turn off AUTO-HDR and have everything work flawlessly .
Such a glaring mistake for Sony as they are seen as one of the front runners when it comes to AV department .
Plus PS5 does not support Dolby Vision. Kinda odd and paradoxical that certain Sony TVs advertised with DV but not fully utilizing it.
Looks like the green side Series X/S is going full force for DV and I dont game on PC so not sure how good it is on PC though.

Update 14/04: The PS5 April system software update is now available, and also includes a new software update for the DualSense controller. The update additionally includes a few other elements beyond the details provided by Sony previously, in particular enhanced support for HDR and 120Hz displays. For those using 120hz PC monitors, the PS5 now supports 1080p resolution at that high refresh rate. Unfortunately the update does not add any variable refresh rate support, but this addition will help broaden the amount of displays that can make the most of the system's refresh rate power.
A new option has been added to automatically switch video output to non-HDR when the console is displaying SDR video or games, which will save you a bit of fiddling through menus.
There's also new HDMI control options. One-Touch Play enables your PS5 to turn on your TV when the console boots, and set your TV to the right input. There's also a Power Off Link, which will put the PS5 into rest mode if you turn off your TV.
The first major system software update for PS5 is rolling out for consoles in all regions tomorrow, and brings enhancements to storage, social features, and control and personalization options.
As revealed on the PlayStation Blog, the PS5 April update will allow players to store PS5 games on a USB expanded storage device, share gameplay across PS5 and PS4 consoles with Share Play, and access a new Trophy Settings and Stats screen.
For its new storage solution, PS5 games downloaded to the internal SSD can be moved to compatible external USB drives. Doing this is accessed from the game's tile on the home menu, using the options button. This is a space-saving measure, though, rather than a permanent storage solution; PS5 games cannot be played off USB drives, and so must be moved back onto the SSD before you can play them. However, considering the relatively small size of the internal SSD and the more frequent need to free up space for new games, this does means you can remove games from the drive and put them back again much faster than re-downloading them entirely.

I am sure you can raise the gamma and achieve similar result but that is less than ideal because you are also raising the black floor causing picture to lose some of its " pop " .
When we said it is too dark , we don't mean that personally against our eyes . It is simply too dark according to the EOTF standard . The easiest way to find out is to run this on your PS5's youtube native app . Remember to turn off HDR from the setting first as this is for rec.709.
Yes you are very right. I also never like to mess with gamma cause it might actually shrink the dynamic range in terms of power function.
Ok thank you. Again, this is very helpful. I will try and run the rec.709.

Anyone know if there is stock for pulse 3d headset or charging station in this round of preorder?
Try refreshing Senq website non stop from 23/4 onwards for the charging station. The past 2 rounds they released it on ETA day. I got mine via senq also.
Don't get pulse 3d unless you can find it for less than rm400.

Thanks for the advice guys. Could anyone further elaborate why Pulse 3d is bad?
I have owned it before and sold it mainly due to comfort. The plasticky frame, the stiff black band over the head and the stupid round shaped ear cups that do not really cover your entire ear. You will feel like something is squeezing your head/ears if you wear for just couple hours.
In terms of sound its decent. You will just lose out on the ease of connectivity if you use 7p. That's all.
