I sharing my recent issue with my PHAT PS5.

When I turned on my 3 yo PHAT PS5 from cold boot, it didn't boot at all. But instead, it went POP and the white smoke came out from all corners...

What are the causes ya? I really nid to get my PHAT PS5 fixed... :C

Mine was bought in March 2021. And my 15-month warranty is over long time liao...

I'll check sending the unit to Heavy Arm since it's closer to my home

Sigh... i tot i wanna clear EVE mission :C

Another question I went into psn store in Malaysia and holy crap the games are so expensive. I'm on Xbox so normally we buy codes off other countries and get it for dirt cheap. How you guys do it?

Update as per Thurs 16th May (Sorry for late update every1)

Technician managed to find the problem... caused by overheating in the power board

He replaced it with new power board and power IC. (Total damage: RM650)

N voila, my ps5 hav been saved!!!

Running and tested for couple of days n over long period of gaming, PS5 Phat all well now.

Lesson learnt: Unplug when not in used / Use surge protector when necessary

300 myr per year is a steal.

Had bought the ps5 slim on April, but until right now still unable to register the extra 90 days warranty from playstation hk website, keep said invalid serial number

Called playstation support on Friday, they said need to wait around 1 to 2 months for them to capture my serial number on the database

On the other side, as I also had bought extra 2 years warranty from the shop itself, so if I managed to register extra 90 days warranty, so my console total warranty will be 3 years and 90 days right?

then let me call playstation support and ask again in future
I bought from shop, retailer can buy extra 2 years warranty from sony as well
shop also had send me something like warranty service agreement last until 2027 which is from sony website

To add, because of the weak ringgit games are actually cheaper here compared to US.

A $69.99 game translates to RM330

Kalau nak jimat better wait for games to be at least 2 years old, then can get 2ndhand around RM150-180.

Or switch to Xbox... Xbox discs are always cheaper, especially if import from UK

The Astro Bot LE controller looks really good. Usually I won't bother on those "special" controllers but this one really cute

The game is coming out in September too.. I'm getting it for my nephew when he comes over to my house to play

He loves the free Astro Bot game which comes with the PS5

So now HK games is cheaper than MY games ?

Damn, so many games, so little time this month

Short review;
- It improves the graphics and makes them smoother. Some game like FF7 Rebirth really need this upgrade.
- It doesn't improve the gameplay. So if you are bad at gaming like me, upgrade to PS5 Pro is not going to help
Is it worth an additional RM1.4-1.8k? No.

If it includes a disc drive - then maybe Yes.
