I see. Is it major improvements btw?
Hurm, is it easy to change tubes? Can't wait to get my TTD next week biggrin.gif
Hehehehe teracun sudahhhhhhh! Seriously DT880 is something special. I just love the sound. But it has to be paired with a desktop amp. For 250ohm and 600ohm that is. Portable doesn't have enough juice!
*
i won't say improvement but rather the change in signature is much greater than that of rolling op-amps. changing tubes can sound like you're changing amps sometimes.

technically that's the idea but getting tubes isn't that easy here. I import them from UK, and how many tubes you are you going to have to try, just to find your perfect signature?

but what i feel is that for that one amp, by changing tubes, i can match my amp to different kinds of headphones and iems.

different signature preference.

can tell from his hd650 + symphonica + lavry da11 setup, which is very different from akabane's wood and yamamoto setup. i'm somewhere in the middle, biased towards akabane.

Tested it, but only for about an hour. So far it sounds good. Soundstage and detail is amazing. Just lacking a bit of bass for my liking. I'll probably have to get used to the sound. Or start rolling tubes lol doh.gif

Btw, leaving it on without playing any sound is considered burning-in or not? Coz the thing gets hot hmm.gif
*
leaving it on without playing is not burning. at best it can be considered a warmer. the TTD actually is pretty cool for a tube amp. larger ones get even hotter.

if you want slightly more bass, the GE/sylvania tube is a possible option. i will finish burning the amperex tube tomorrow morning, and will then switch over to telefunken.

Quazacolt: hahaha imo, tube doesn't go with AT-AD series. unless you just want the mids to shine while giving up treble and bass, like the woodies. for you, give the meier concerto amp a try, its a SS. i think your taste runs that way.

How do you burn-in the tubes? Is it ok to leave it over the long hours since it gets warm?

Ok bro. Tell me once you finished trying all the tubes smile.gif

i just play music through it. my TTD v2 has been running 24/7 since i got it 2 weeks ago. i've yet to turn it off. so far its like 24hrs x 16days already. but use it in a well ventilated area and all the common stuff. not buried under a pile of paper in a drawer...

hehehe it sounds much better than that writeup. but its good that you've auditioned it. hahaha i'm more familiar with tubes and concerto is one of the few SS amps that i've auditioned. & i prefer concerto to lavry's amp.

ahhh ok. the concerto is a pretty good amp. i do find it a little on the drier side, but nothing that a good pair of copper ICs can't solve.

well, after that you can drive the T1 with the concerto. and that's a 2k amp driving a 5k headphone.

i think if you want to tighten the bass, its more worth while to get a good amp than to do the mods and increasing the dampening.
