i was thinking about that too. ah another trip to jaben i suppose but what about cables. does it really make a difference ?
*
IMO, the cables do make a difference, but is the difference worth it or not, that's another matter. modding might bring down its resale value too, something to consider if and when you decide to sell it.

you're welcome. i'd advise you to max out your chain of DAC and amp first before doing mods on your headphone. better returns that way.

otherwise even if you get a 1st class mod done on your headphones, you are still getting a 3rd class signal out from your DAC and amp.

tested @faezfarhan's TTD with the DT770, i must say it has good synergy with the cans but it needs to be really warm to show its potential. it made the bass lesser but tighter and mids really sing with the tubes. i supposed its a hybrid amp eh?
*
tube amps will need a half hour - 1hour warm up time to start singing. if you want abit more bass, can try the NOS GE/Sylvania tube, more bass with thicker mids.

Correct, the TTD is a hybrid amp.

snappy bass you need the 600 ohms version paired with a SS amp or a very SS sounding tube amp. tube bass (and treble) no matter what is gonna be more rounded than bass (and treble) coming from a SS amp.

Have you tried all the tubes? So that's the best for bass? Btw, I'm hear some sibilance on the TTD. Probably because it hasn't been burned-in yet?
*
for bass, my personal preference is for the Sylvania/GE tubes. sibilance is probably from the DT880 itself. the headphones need about 100hours burn-in to smooth out the treble, about 500hours to finish burning.

different headphones require different amount of burn-in / breaking-in.

Usually for dt880 need to burn in how long?
*
i completed my burn-in at around 500hours. beyond that i didn't hear much of a difference. but T1 i burnt for 1k hours.

QUOTE(FaezFarhan @ Dec 8 2011, 08:21 PM)
But the headphone is used. The guys used it from April IIRC. Should be more than that. I didn't hear any sibilence while using the FiiO E10. I guess the tube needs more time?
*
the headphone, tube, amp and dac could all need more burn-in. another possibility is that the DAC/AMP is more revealing than E10 which brings out the sibilance in the recording.

I see, about the volume, does it play a part in DAC/Amp burn-in? I put it at the lowest volume when I'm sleeping.
*
ya lowest level is okay but why waste that power? might as well just put it to your normal listening levels and work the drivers in the headphones, right? unless its for other considerations such as not disturbing your room mate and stuff.

i use my T1 and LCD-2 as speakers while buring in, so that should give you an idea of the volume i burn in at.

Some people says higher volume faster burn in, for me I dare not put high volume, who knows later driver rosak. I normally just put at my listening level.
*
higher volume doesn't mean until its ear splitting levels, just normal level plus 5 to 10%.

you should still be able to bear with the volume, but you feel that its 'louder' than usual. not so loud until you can't wear the headphones to hear.

this might be better discussed in the Jaben Thread, but afaik you can pretty much bundle anything you want.

just as an example, you can get a T1, StageDAC and Concerto amp and ask the guys for a bundle / package price.

imo, the DT880 has wider but shorter stage than HD650. but if you're talking about HD800 and T1, then HD800 is both wider and taller than T1.

that said, govibes (magnum, peak etc) pairs extremely well with beyers especially in driving its bass/low ends smile.gif

IINM people also mentioned that the govibes were made with beyers in mind too, forgotten who mentioned that to me during TT's/auditions etc.
*
most probably someone from Jaben SG, altho the guy who tuned the govibes definitely likes his bass and nothing much else.

i feel senheiser more accurate, the 880 makes your song voice sounds strange!
*
QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Dec 13 2011, 10:02 PM)
on the contrary, 880 would be more accurate, as the mids are more neutral (thats where most vocal ranges are focused on)
*
different people judge accuracy and neutrality differently. what is accurate bass to me might be bass light to some and even too bassy to others.

taste is subjective i agree, but i think you guys judging it by price tag
*
hehe if i judge my stuff by their price tags, i won't be listening to a RM150 earbuds more than my new LCD-2. laugh.gif

OT: the LCD-2 is sounding better with the DHC cables though. biggrin.gif

do you feel that the treble of your DT880 is smooth already? or still peaky? if you still find it peaky, you need to burn in some more. George says your DT880 has about 300hours?

You should try burning in till about 500, but my experience with the DT880 /600 is that by about 300hours the treble is starting to get smoother already.
