QUOTE(eternity4av @ Jun 23 2022, 05:46 PM) yeah better becareful, i learnt it the hard way, where i thought cost of replacement of battery is as per website, but then if your battery is bloated then its totally different case, i was charged way higher but this is iphone, but i believed it applies all across mac, Is it true that 8gb of ram on macbook isn't enough for casual work?but anyone that owns 8gb m1 having sluggishness? i'm just using chrome, powerpoint, excel, outlook, and teams and its sluggish, and this does happen even after my 3rd month of ownership. |

QUOTE(ericlaiys @ Jun 30 2022, 09:54 AM) enough. been using 8GB since 5 year ago. that depends on what is your usage. for me i've been using i7 8gb dell 4 years ago, and now having issues with chrome with mac, for me its not really worth it, unless you' re using mac software like final cut, and great battery life, but that doesnt matter if you going to dock in ur desk at home anyway.- word -excel -power point - sometimes do video recording and editing Just 8GB and intel dual core. my experience to share for anyone looking to do trade in.
my model:- macbook pro 2017 (i5, dual core, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM) plan to get : m1 macbook air 1.Switch - Quayside Mall , Rimbayu - did not offer trade in for macbook So advise to go popular shopping mall 2. Try Machines @ Sunway Pyramid Yes - trade in available. Accoding to them, they offer trade in for 2015 or latest model Initial price before checking faulty is RM1.1k 3. Try Switch @ Sunway Pyramid Yes - trade in available. Final Price - RM880 All shop only got M1 Macbook Air - 256GB Gold color. According to them, price dropped for trade in is lower is due to M2 released last month. Before M2, my unit trade in is RM1.5k My unit is working fine. They will minus for every small scratch on surface (back/front/ etc) Display panel rubber on side top where keyboard panel, they check side (got little dark due to dust/ try to clean). Give me an excuse side cannot clean which i hardly cannot see it. Lastly i decided to abort the trade in as not worth it. The 2017 Macbook pro is still working fine, battery life (replaced a new one 1 1/2 year ago is still great and not faulty) Switch & Machines got no promotion - RM4399. Will continue to use till it die and buy new one online with possible cheaper on 11/11 or 12/12 sale. With this unit still can support MacOS Ventura this year, no hurry to change it. May be M3 next year will be my target. That's all my experience & hope this benefit to those want to do trade in This post has been edited by ericlaiys: Jul 3 2022, 09:05 PM |

No plans to upgrade to MBA M2 as MBA M2 battery is not as good, and daily performance usage would be hardly noticeable between M1 and M2. And not sure about the SSD speeds of the MBA M2 yet, as it could be another downgrade like what happened with MBP M2 compared to MBP M1. I noticed that the battery drain is slower around 90-100% (sometimes got around 3-4 hours before it reach 95) and around 10% drop for 1hour+ normal usage after that.
Is that consider normal? This post has been edited by d3v073d_50uL: Jul 6 2022, 11:14 PM |
