I recommend the stall in PJ Old Town food court (not the one at pasar besar) and another one behind the chinese school (confucious i think.. ).

I can't give any suggestion of of wantan mee but I can tell you Toast & Roast has got awesome char siew, so paired with their WTM, it's 9/10

There are actually two Hoong Kee. The Kepong one is called new Hoong Kee. There is another Hoong Kee inside Publika shopping mall chinese food court. I find the noodle made by that Publika stall is different from the other normal wanton mee stalls, in a good way. You should go there and try sometimes as I really don't know how to describe that. It is a bit more expensive than the Kepong Hoong Kee, but the noodle portion is bigger. You ask for small size it is already feel like large size compared to the normal stalls.

That kind of noodles you either like it or dislike it. But it is different lah from all other wanton mee noodle in Malaysia. Noodle portion is small though, while the prawns big.

Publika food court asked all those famous food to open the stall in there so they are definitely not the first hoong kee.

No such thing as best..it is hard to go wrong with it...even myanmar workers can make good 1....unless the chef is damn lousy

Yeah that was my favorite stall for soup wan tan mee. The soup boiled with roasted duck bone is just fabulous.
The dried wan tan mee paired with roasted duck is also fantastic.
Just wonder where they have moved or the old uncle and aunty have retired for good.
What i know is the son has a leatherwear shop at Sunway Shopping mall. Probably will drop by 1 day and check whether he still run the wan tan mee biz anywhere in PJ/KL area.

Being a non Chinese, I would recommend the one near Central Market pasar seni..few blocks away.. Tepi jalan.. One elderly hunchback big sized lady will prepare the noodles.. One man cuts the char siew.. The best for me.. The wantan taste unique..

the charsiew in yulek isn't nice. too dry. it doesn't have the char you're looking for.
BUT their siew yoke is quite good. And they are very very generous with the amount they give, for a low price.

I remember Ho Weng Kee. They moved to Lot 10 and Chan Meng Kee took over the same shoplot. A lot of people thought they are the same. I guess that is why some people say the quality dropped but they never realise its two different shop and Ho Weng Kee was the better one. Chan Meng Kee was not popular when Ho Weng Kee was at SS2. They only become popular after Ho Weng Kee moved to Lot 10. Ho Weng Kee at Lot 10 drop standard alot.

Yes!! Their wantan mee is just superb. QQ texture to it. When missing some China town feel, can just go there and have some wantan mee.

I like Toong Kwoon Chye near Sun Complex and Plaza Lowyat. It is a now the 4th generation and still maintain their quality. Very old school type of restaurant and not many people heard of them unless you're boomer generation.

I also like the wanton mee at PJ New Town near UOB bank. The restaurant very crowded everyday and most of the other food in the restaurant is also very good too. Only warning is the lady boss of the wanton mee stall gives very bad customer service. The trick is never order from her but order from the Indon helpers.

Yup Chan Meng Kee took over the Ho Weng Kee shoplot, and their standard was rubbish in the beginning, but over the years, they did improve and at one point, the boss kept refining the recipe and get extremely obese, quality was surprisingly good around early this year. After they moved to the new shoplot, lol standard dropped.
