Bruno is a clear ones.. We missed him. Good he choose VDB. Still not sure what vdb best role and position. He is everywhere but nowhere.. Maybe it down to his understanding to others and other to him for now

VDB is a box to box midfielder. Unfortunately, Ole doesn't seem to understand him.
Best role I have seen for him this season has been when he is paired with Fred and they kept that midfield engine going. The connection from defence to attack was a lot better, and Bruno benefitted off that.

I thought vdb did quite well at bruno position. But sub him out all change. So far, he seems better pair with fred.

Anyone know why fred not in bench?

I think the sub was more about getting Bruno on, and we all know which midfielder Ole will sacrifice first.
VDB should be good in a midfield base behind Bruno, so Bruno get's the suuply he needs to create chances.

As far as Fred goes, perhaps Ole giving him a rest.
Him doing all that running every match will start to take it's toll as the season wears on.

Tactical reason. Ole did mention he need height in midfield , that's why include matic in the bench

What a completely poor first half....we were not able to carve a single good chance in first half...no wonder cross master Moyes felt robbed.

Indeed without Bruno we were crap. Perhaps we need to deal with opposing teams a bit better when they push up so high. 343 is a problem for us...they have such as strong high line, and when defending the crowded the back line too.

It was not a pretty sight to see Pogba, VDB doing nothing but hit walls. Then cavani, martial and Mason needing to drop so deep to get the ball that they have no chance to create chances or test their keeper.

Martial really poor. For me this must be his last game for a while.

2nd half is quite a turn around. Pogba is really an enigma with the fine goal but pretty much ineffective otherwise.

When they are defending, it was 5-4-1, it was difficult to penetrate their defense with the line up, i often see Greenwood and Cavani drop down to get balls because the midfield couldn't make the pass due to West Ham midfield pressure.

VDB still struggle to play as no.10, the most suitable role for him is still no.8 at the moment.
