QUOTE(canuponly @ Nov 2 2020, 11:53 PM) Depends on your type of diabetes. Some have successfully reversed (keep in check without medication, not full cure) Type 2 diabetes. https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/can-you-reve...type-2-diabetes https://www.healthline.com/health/type-2-diabetes-reversible It's still being studied to be able to be replicated to more people. |

Try keto and/or Intermittent fasting. You can check out Jason Fung on Youtube. He's got alot of good information regarding metabolic syndrome.
My brother was pre diabetic. He switched over to keto and he's totally medication free right now. |

QUOTE(canuponly @ Nov 5 2020, 12:17 AM) Mainly control diet. Whether able to cure would be depending on the individual and how severe was their diabetes before making those lifestyle changes. Not a good idea even if few years no need take medication go back to old lifestyle and eat without a care in the world. It was that previous lifestyle that caused the problem. Better stick to new lifestyle and medication free. |

QUOTE(canuponly @ Nov 5 2020, 03:01 PM) Actually with the right lifestyle it's not so bad. Many food can still eat. Combine with some proper exercise can increase flexibility of consuming more carbs. Take this as an opportunity to live a more healthy lifestyle. I tried the keto diet for 6 months and doing low carb now. Highly sustainable lifestyle. |

QUOTE(canuponly @ Nov 6 2020, 07:31 AM) It kinda depends. If your kidney is normal than it should not be a problem. Just make sure drink enough water and stay hydrated. Honestly speaking there are essential fats and proteins we have to eat but there is no such thing as essentials carbs than we need to eat. Keto does have a tendency to increase your cholesterol but many research nowadays shows high cholesterol does not have much correlation to most heart disease. The question you should be asking is which condition would have a higher risk of future health issues. Being diabetic opens a whole door of future health problems. |

I beat my diabetes. Was diagnosed a type 2 3 years ago when my hba1c reading was 10. Started on pills. Back then was obese at 75kg and age 34. Very down and depressed especially when I think of my future with my family and kids.
Started controlling my diet. No rice or noodles, only meat and vege. Dinner drink soup and eat fruits. If hungry at night, small glass of wine or chia seeds before going to bed. Started running as exercise. That time do 1km also feel like want to die. Pace only 7-8 min per km. Whole body no energy and feel very miserable but told myself I need to do this for my future. Continue to do this for 1 year. Start seeing results after 6 months. Weight dropped to 68kg and hbA1c return to normal. Today, I run 5km per day with 5-6 min per km pace. Total distance every month around 100km. Hba1c reading at 5, already stopped medication for 1 year. Weight at 61kg. Feeling healthier than ever and hardly fall sick. I resume eating normally and measure blood every week. All normal. Trust me, u can do it. You just need to have a very strong will. |

QUOTE(canuponly @ Nov 2 2020, 11:53 PM) My wife have diabetes when tested the 1st day it was 7.2 fasting. After 3 weeks of intermittent fasting, morning 30min exercise and low carb (not 100% low carb actually), the reading drop to 5.7 fasting. Type 2 Diabetes is about insulin resistance in the body. Tackle this problem and it will go back to normal. |
