Try keto and/or Intermittent fasting. You can check out Jason Fung on Youtube. He's got alot of good information regarding metabolic syndrome.

My brother was pre diabetic. He switched over to keto and he's totally medication free right now.

He totally cured or control diet?

Mainly control diet. Whether able to cure would be depending on the individual and how severe was their diabetes before making those lifestyle changes.

Not a good idea even if few years no need take medication go back to old lifestyle and eat without a care in the world. It was that previous lifestyle that caused the problem. Better stick to new lifestyle and medication free.

Yes. Very hard to get cured unless transplant pankreas..

Actually with the right lifestyle it's not so bad. Many food can still eat. Combine with some proper exercise can increase flexibility of consuming more carbs.

Take this as an opportunity to live a more healthy lifestyle. I tried the keto diet for 6 months and doing low carb now. Highly sustainable lifestyle.

Be carefull. I heard keto is not good for your kidney.

It kinda depends. If your kidney is normal than it should not be a problem. Just make sure drink enough water and stay hydrated. Honestly speaking there are essential fats and proteins we have to eat but there is no such thing as essentials carbs than we need to eat.

Keto does have a tendency to increase your cholesterol but many research nowadays shows high cholesterol does not have much correlation to most heart disease.

The question you should be asking is which condition would have a higher risk of future health issues. Being diabetic opens a whole door of future health problems.
