after reading some of the pages, can i say that using GPS doesnt need any connection other than satellite (no need gprs/edge/wifi/3g)?

On average how long does it take to get the position ? And what's the refresh rate of the gps ? If u know what i mean.

I'm interested to get this phone (most probably the new 8gb one) because of this GPS thing. Ur help is very much appreciated biggrin.gif

gps nid to find satelite signal. but the map u nid dl from computer to ur hp 1st. the internet connection is to update ur map info onli.

it will take more than 1 min to get fix satelite signal. is depend on many condition. as long as u can get fix signal u will keep updating.
atm i still dunno how the n95 8g work coz this n95 with external memory i can use free navigation services. aha. u know what i mean.

err actually i dunno what exactly ur trying to say haha.

What i know is Garmin gps product is free as well. No monthly subscription or anything. And from their website it says that N95 is supported by them. Just insert the micro sd card and voila, ur ready to go.

So basically all i need to do to get going is download a map into the memory card, right ?

garmin hv a wide range of product. i should assume that u r saything the garmin bluetooth module. if yes that mean u use garmin gps module instead of using N95 built in gps device. the micro sd slot to where? does the garmin product gv any software?

check this out
http://www8.garmin.com/mobile/smartphones/

the smartphones with gps. They sell the micro sd card with the maps and everything inside. So u just put it in the phone and use it. The bluetooth is for phones without gps.

Btw, the nokia 6110 navigator's gps works just like the n95 eh ?

when u connect yr hp to pc via usb cable, a screen will appear on yr hp ask u whether u 12 connect in pc suite mode, mass storage mode etc. Just select mass storage.

Or the easiest way is to get a card reader.

if u enable A-GPS, it will require internet connection(GPRS, EDGE, 3G, WiFi, etc) because it need reference from telco provider to speed up the location positioning.

most of the stuff/guide/problem can be found in the manual. please read it before use. N95 is called a smartphone for some reason...
