Hiyas,

Was just trying to get a feel of this. Am asking now as it probably might take that long to organize everything. If there's enough interest, that is.

Some numbers based on this year's convention.

US Visa : USD100 / RM360
Ticket per pax : USD 100 / RM360
Hotel per night (across the street) : USD 100 / RM 360 so 4 days (1 day arrive, 2 days convention, 1 day pack and ciao) is USD 400 / RM 1440
Air Ticket to LAX : RM5,000 with MAS
Transportation between LAX & Hotel : USD42 / RM151 so 2 way is USD84 / RM302
Food @ USD25 / RM90 a day? So 4 days is USD 100 / RM360

Total is approximately : RM 7822 / USD 2173.

Hmmm...so maybe need something like RM8K just for a BlizzCon trip. Could probably get it cheaper going as a group and booking early but still a hefty sum of money.

So, anyone interested?

Postnote : Correction on the hotel fees. So looks like less by RM2K. RM8K would be enough if inflation not too high.
Post-postnote : Added in US visa.

I thought so too until I sat down number crunching.

Put it this way. There's a number of Malaysian tourists going on tours in Europe and USA paying probably nearly the same amount? Probably cheaper because it's one big group so they can get the discounts. But still, tourist travel isn't any cheaper either.

Only the accomodation and flight ticket are expensive but they are both variables. Staying further away may be cheaper but more tiring after a convention to stay too far away.

So, anyone interested?

she's using psychology on us. first she post a figure of 9k+ and then lower it by 2k... making us think, "WAH! 2K cheaper!" appealing to our kiasu mentality.

It's as appealling as going to the PC Fair. Unless I can earn that much in less than a month, I'd rather spend that money taking a vacation on an island somewhere or at a resort. Paying that much to go to a fair to catch some news/updates/sneak previews, win random items/prizes, etc like you would at the PC Fair, not for me. If you can afford it on a month's salary or lucky to be a rich playboy/girl of sort, then I envy you. Me, bills to pay, commitments to meet and obligations to fulfill, so can't spare anything for Blizzcon by that year rclxub.gif

P.s seeing as remi is proposing it, looks like you've already made up your mind eh? hmm.gif

in case you never knew, ive always wanted to goto blizzcon the first time it was announced. the difference is that, back then, i have no job, and things like this is definitely out of reach, a mere dream. ive been a blizz fan ever since the diablo1, warcraft 1/2, sc 1 days. not as hardcore as those who might've known blizz since their old school console days (remember the remade of lost vikings? thats one of their title) but it should already hinted to you that im pretty much a blizz fan.

now everything's change, i got an income, i get to purchase a new computer, and blizzcon? it can become a reality instead of a dream, it is within grasp.

you see, im the person who would go through all sorts of lengths just to get what i wanted. warcraft3 collector's edition? i got it. WoW burning crusade collector's edition? i got it. now you would probably wonder why i didnt have WoW original CE, well it was simple, i was jobless, and WoW was the mother of all hype. The limited production CE was quickly sold off, and resale on ebay for over rm1k. me being jobless, simply have no means of acquiring it. war3 ce on the other hand, wasnt even close to being as hard to acquire as WoW CE but it came close. WoW TBC CE was a joke to acquire to the point i manage to acquire additional units to sell them to other people that has interest in Malaysia.

and since the announcement of sc2's findlay statue, ive been looking forward to get ahold of one myself although the price does seem to be a lil expensive and it'll probably be a b**** to ship it to Malaysia (it is a lifesize model afterall)

with the above said, i believe you should realize now, myremi proposing this or not wouldnt've made the slightest bit of difference.

Cut cost = share hotel room , share food , and rent an old bus to fetch all of us.

But then still gonna cost us 5k? Heh.

The point I was making about remi is referring to her making up her own mind, not her deciding for others. Anyway, a fool and his money are soon parted, or so the saying goes. Then again, to each his own so I can't speak for everyone. I personally can't justify laying out that much to attend a convention. So yea, go for it if that's your thing is the point smile.gif
