Does buying from Argentina digital store still work for Malaysians? I've tried to read about it but there's a lot of conflicting advice. Some say need to buy gift card, some say can use CC, some say need VPN, some say no need VPN, some say need to buy through browser only...

I want to buy an Xbox but only because of the cheap games from Argentina. If anyone is doing this can you help tell me how please?

And does it mean that I am 'locked' into Argentina and have to buy Game Pass from Argentina too? Or can I register for US Game Pass and buy digital games from Argentina?

bought some Xbox gold live from Brazil several months ago.
Here is what I’ve done.
1. Use a vpn. So it appears I’m from Brazil. I would use a trusted vpn since you’re entering sensitive information.
2. Redeem code in my account. I’m using a US Account.
3. Switch off vpn. Use as per normal.

May I ask, why did you choose a US account? I was thinking to create an Argentina account as I plan to buy most of my games from there. Is this not a good idea?

VPN doesn’t really matter. I’m using the free version of tunnelbear on mobile.
Region in account doesn’t matter, you can always change them anyway.

Not too sure on PS. I don’t think there is a big price disparity for PSN.

So far for Argentina store no need to use VPN. just buy directly using credit card. make sure to enable overseas transaction

tried just now using web browser, required me to have a argentina CC to process the payment
keyed in the local MY CC and the payment failed
fyi, my that MY CC has been used for countless oversea transactions before

paypal only available for selected countries like US

Argentina only option is CC & reward cards

you can save the card details with Argentina address, CC number verified
just can't go thru the payment, some "crossregionpayment" error message

ah probably they started blocking, so that user wont abuse it this way. maybe have to buy gift card ?

no point buying the gift cards also, either it's out of stock or heavily marked up

guess the only way is to have a local Argentinian to help out

well there is another way, thats to use VPN. set it up on PC, buy them through xbox.com (Argentina region)

tried that on PC as well, no joy

they still will check your payment details, seems now MS is forcing you to have a local payment for each region, cos now you'll need to setup the region's payment option with local billing address
IMO the only way to escape this is using the MS reward cards

1. Which VPN do you recommend? I tried to openDNS the xBox - didnt work. Teach me sifu!

you don't need any vpn now

just change your xbox region to brazil or argentina (currently the cheapest region), add a local address there for your CC (google it)

it can be a hit or miss, if got cross region error when paying, try again after few days

some says reset their xbox also will do the trick, haven't tried that tho...

For those trying to pay but the payment failed for some reason, try selecting new payment method but selecting the same credit card you were using previously. I think it forces MS to do some sort of check, usually works for me when my mbb credit card doesn't work the first time (on US account).

I tried with bigpay 2 days ago and it worked. Tried to purchase online but cannot. Have to do it in Xbox. no need VPN or anything. Just added big pay card and set Buenos Aires address. Zip code have to be correct I think. Change Xbox location to Argentina and buy like normal.

BigPay has similar rate as XE.com and it is much cheaper than any bank CC in Malaysia.

I just bought fifa 21 using this method, it works bro! Used bigpay too with some googled address in city of palermo, argentina. Was charged only rm79.12 for the game on my bigpay.

Just an update, i tried to buy a 2nd game (Far Cry 4 for 520 Arg Peso, about RM23.50) after that but payment was blocked. I've tried the following:

removed and then added back my bigpay = didn't work
changed to a different Argentina address = didn't work
restarted by xbox console = didn't work
Changed back to US region, restarted console, then changed again to Argentina region followed by restarting console = also didn't work


Lol, i guess my next option is to wait 72 hours before buying again. Will keep you guys updated.

Yes. I heard many ppl got blocked for around 2 days or 2 weeks or something. Just make sure buy all games u want first. 😆

with Turkish Lira exchange rate freefalling recently, seem it's cheaper to buy from there compared to Argentina
eg: Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition
Ar: 999.75 = RM45
Tr: 65.00 = RM33

My bigpay card at Arg store is still locked. Saw that there's some big discount on Watchdogs Legion earlier today. Cheapest is Argentina store (about RM54, bargain!), but i couldn't pass payment.

Found out that Mexico store is 2nd cheapest at RM65. My Bigpay couldnt go through at Mexico store either, so i tried with paypal. 1st attempt didnt go through but 2nd attempt went through after alternating between bigpay card and paypal. Maybe alternating between bigpay card and paypal confused the system??? lol i dont know, but it worked on my 2nd attempt. RM65 for Watchdogs Legion is definitely a bargain!

I found a trick if you keep having trouble purchasing and getting don't know what happened error no matter how many times you try, gift the game to your email. I tried it and the payment goes through right away.

If you don't get the gift email in your inbox like me for some reason, go to the xbox site and get the game code from.the order history.

Well technically you aren't gifting to yourself, you are just sending it to your friends email. Your friend decide not to play, you have no choice but to redeem it yourself

You could have use a different email from your Xbox account and it would work just fine. The gift email was so delayed, I finally gotten it after 7 hours.

Bought sekiro too, but then i bought them as gift. should just buy in the sub account. Because when i want to redeem the gift code, it says the region is diff. Tried redeem at xbox, store set to argetina, also same. Then tried redeem at the account i bought the game, using xbox store set argentina also same. Use website also same. eventho my email showing xxx@gmail.com(argentina) at the redeem page, when key in it will check the code and say error the region is diff.

Tried create an account and set location is Argentina, tried redeem, also same. Last resort, turn on my expressvpn to argentina, and tried redeem via website, and it works. phew.

So if wan buy, better buy straight, if not gift card need VPN to redeem.

Update: i switch my VPN server to US, and try check the code, and no error

few weeks ago no issues when buying by creating a new account then gifting to my main
but it halted immediately when i got greedy by checking out few games at once using cart
same thing happens also last time, all was good until i use the cart to checkout multiple games
seems the trick is to buy the games one by one

my main account still block my BP card tho...

Tried this method again using another Maybank debit card. It works! I suggest to guy everything you want in one go before your card gets blocked again.

Can confirm BigPay still works, just that the purchasing process is finicky as always. Purchasing on my main account directly failed unlike last week where I could purchase right away, I had to switch to my alt and gift it to my main account just now.

I don't think it matters as long as you remove all existing address that you had on it. Add new Argentinian address along with the card details by going into settings -> account -> payment & billing on your console, important to not add them via the Microsoft website.

Yeah, just do everything on console. If you had addresses added on the website, just go there and delete every card along with the addresses then start fresh on Xbox.

Sometime it's like that. You might have to wait a day or two for it to work again, I always get these 2 errors too.

If you want, I could try gift the games to your email. You could just send me the money via bigpay afterwards.

When i receive the msg of the gift, there should be "REDEEM CODE" to click OR a 25 coding to redeem in xbox.com.

Yes if you send it as gift to someone in friend list. They can instantly see the notification, press redeem from there and it will be in your library right away.

If you choose to gift via email, it will send the code via email. There would also be a Microsoft link there, takes like 2 clicks to redeem it to your account.

but last night when I tried my alt account, found out the BP card is working again, so gifted few games to my main
strange thing is I can't redeem them directly, says region restricted, and I had to use US VPN to redeem them
weird thing is previously I don't need VPN to redeem them, it's the same accounts, same settings, same card

Maybe bcos my main was initially created for US and my alt was created for Argentina?

My main was US initially but I had no problem gifting from ARS alt. Never once had I need to use VPN, I could also manually claim the code on the Microsoft website.

I have also successfully buy/redeem stuff I bought in Saudi and Brazilian store.

i m not sure about now but what i found out at xbox one era. when u gift games to some one. the redeem side must be the region of the gift game side. example if u gift games from usa region store then, the one who receive the game have to use vpn for usa region… same as other country…
