Its kinda waste while phenom will be out in december. but still there are buyers out there and will buy the processor.

Like what I have mentioned earlier, probably AMD is just clearing up their inventories (silicon, etc.). Phenom is coming out soon, but it doesn't really matter. It's better to clear out old stocks than to throw it away when it's already expired, right?

6400+ is not really a new processor, it's just the same F3 which AMD already have, just binned higher.

Just the same thing as X2 6000+ clock at 3.0ghz, but this is clock at a higher clock rate which is 3.2ghz.

Meaning, higher multiplier. Clearing current stock, but upgrade a bit existing one, something like that is it?

Wow, nice, but will be patient and wait for the phenom, then baru compare lol... No doubt that AMD is clearing their old inventory(like what soulfly said). I think those 6000+ no need to worry much as I think this wont be much diff until phenom comes out for action laugh.gif

Yeah, 3.2Gig on 90nm is considered- wait, I don't know even where to start considering laugh.gif
It's pretty crazy considering the other 90nm chip to reportedly sell at a clock this high was Prescott-based, and that had a gazillion stages in its pipeline. For a 12-stager this is madness.

And hopefully brings hope for Phenoms to clock over 3.5Ghz stock in 65. If they can get the process mature quicker this time Penryn might actually have tougher competition lol. I have a feeling that they're staying at 65nm for some time (I do doubt Shanghai coming out so soon after Barcelona- wish they'd get high-k stuff into 45 or even 65 (if that is indeed possible with SOI))

nice black box , beauty enought ! but the performance still cannot fight with certain conroe .. no worth for it , IMO

For the mean time C2D still on top. X2 has been out for quite some time right? The only worth to be matched against C2D is Kuma, hopefully sweat.gif

That's the best comparison yet. However, I think AMD's strategy would be to price it cheaper than the E6850.

I think that would be the only way they can sell the proc, not counting the die-hard AMD followers..... smile.gif

woot, that's what I expected, 3.5Ghz tongue.gif could OC it to 4.0Ghz laugh.gif Joking.

The black box is darn tempting, but better wait, and consider for Phenoms (will it be 65??)

Any idea how much will it cost when Phenoms come?? I'm are die-hard fans of AMD lol laugh.gif

Phenom sure on 65nm technology. Maybe the pricing will be a bit expensive than current C2D and C2Q now.

My best guess is near RM1000 for the Phenom X4 2.4 ("normal"), under RM2500 for the Phenom FX X4 2.8.

Opterons will be slightly cheaper than their Xeon counterparts- they could be a little more expensive too- but at the end, the unsightly costs of FB-DIMMS and of switching a platform is still giving AMD lots of orders for Barcelona.

As for Phenoms, AFAIK they no longer have the platform price advantage (unless you want to use a Geforce 6100 mobo tongue.gif) so AMD would price it a little more aggressive. On the other hand the TDP of the 65nm Stars CPUs are still quite impressive, considering what Intel's managing with 45.

EDIT: So I saw Penryn Xeon QCs weren't that cheap as expected lol.

So i herd i was mentioned in thread. Is i r famous brows.gif

Anyways, here's my two cents, everyone knows that a more mature process has better yields, a more stable process and the producers damn well know how to optimize it better. Same thing with the high speeders of every generation, be it the original Gallatin EE from Intel (the Prescott was smaller), the R520 (the Rv530 was smaller), the R600 (the Rv630 was also smaller) and such. Coincidence?

Due to yields and many other things like gate level optimizations implemented along the way which the smaller and newer process doesn't possess, it's often easier for manufacturers to crank up the raw clock speed on older processes. Of course if you compare 2 processes at the same level of maturity, but one is built on a new process, the newer one obviously wins, but the point is here is cronology. The old 90nm process has been here for 4 years and the 65 has been here for 2 tongue.gif

When a process is new, what people generally concentrate on is yield value, rather than just raw speed loh. Something like that. Waits for fishy to hammer me.

Do u mean if Phenom is develop on 90nm technology process the frequency could be higher? unsure.gif

Yes, but the heat leves due to the amount of transistors and other factors would be insane, and the amount of money put into making silicon wafers would be bloody prohibitive.
