AMD also announced a new processor today at the Akiba event. The new processor is the Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition. It is rated at 3.2GHz. According to early data The CPU will have 2MB L2 cache and built on 90nm SOI. The TDP could be 125W.

Sounds nice. However, I think the TDP would be a let-down for overclockers, as it is even higher then Intel's quad......

apart from technology/architecture .... AMD's 90nm is still on par with Intel's 65nm parts in term of power consumption

AMD just clearing up the old inventory, nothing too surprising or funny about that.

The F3 part has lower L2 cache latency than the G1 part, hence better performance.

F3 = 90nm
G1 = 65nm

And the F3 parts actually scales much better than G1 in terms of clockspeed (which is why I refuse to get a Brisbane) whistling.gif

AMD's 90nm heat dump is actually comparable to Intel's 65nm heat dump on the mainstream model. This 6400+ most likely targets high end hardcore AMD fanboys instead of average consumer.

aiya~ so sad... juz ordered X2 3.0GHz 6000+ last week... thought that i'm gonna use the best AMD proc in market... my cpu not yet arrive... already come a new cpu? cry.gif cry.gif
