Looking to jump ship to iOS as an android for more than 10 yrs coming from Poco F1.

I'm eyeing mini right now. Watched tones of review by comparing with 13 mini and similar price range android phone like Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE. I think I will settle with 12 mini.

Senheng currently selling 12 mini at 2399 for base model and 13 mini at 3099. I checked out the real device side by side, really couldn't tell the difference. By looking at the 2 only the notch size slightly different. Really love the one hand control, just like my old Redmi note 2 with 5.5" screen. Comparing 12 mini and 13 mini, with the price gap of RM700, I really cannot pick 13 mini.

Before anyone mentioning only the 64G storage on 12 mini, base on my usage from my current poco F1 64G, I still have 30G left. I think the 12 mini base model is enuff for my usage.

So, what do you guys think about the pricing? Is it a good buy now, or should I wait for 6.6 to see if there is any additonal promo? hmm.gif

Edit: I check with others user, looks like everyone recommend 13mini instead of 12 mini. Will need to think about it.

Don't underestimate IOS app size compared to Android. Some stupid basic apps can run up to 300mb.
I am now about 90GB used up, with about 20GB of photos and videos.....and I consider myself a "light user" ie I dont game or do heavy stuff on the phone...

Example : Any banking apps will be 300-500MB and if you have 4-5 then its like bye bye a few gigs. Now that I look at my own app list, as long as some form of login is required the app is 200MB to 500MB.

But you are always able to buy icloud for 50GB or even more (just beware when it fills up you have to manually download or clear it too).

I am eyeing another 12 for my wife perhaps for her I will be a scrooge and stay with 64GB haha.

i used 12 mini since launched while my wife using 13 mini. there's a huge different in battery life, if u can live with okay battery life then 12 mini is for you since 13 mini battery life a little bit better than the bigger iphone 12. another notable difference that i saw, the screen on 13 mini slightly much better compare to 12 mini and camera output also a little bit punchier on the 13 mini. note there's also this cinematic mode aka portrait mode for video on 13 mini.

Yes, I also see many ppl talks about battery life is significant better. But how significant actually? Most of the report I see is like around 1 and half hour more than 12 mini.
Some even talks about 12 mini battery life is faulty.

200-500mb+ for just a banking APPS?! WTF The size is like 6x more than android apps!
I have few cloud storage like Gdrive, Box, Drop box ..
Usually I will opt for cross-platform apps, let say in the future if I want to switch back to android, it will be alot easier.
A bit danger if just trap into one eco system. tongue.gif
Thx for the heads up, I definitely will take this into consideration. Maybe just bite the bullet, get 13 mini instead.

IOS is a closed platform....Gdrive can't do whatsapp backup in IOS, only Icloud can backup whatsapp as of now. Among many other frivolous and non-sensical things that Apple do for you. I heard it will not be long before whatsapp can cross migrate easily but as of today still difficult... the idea is to make your life difficult to migrate back.

anyway, its usually the power users of android that suffer the most when seeing the closed walls of IOS.

so in all, I'd rather have a 128gb 12 mini than a 64gb 13 mini for the same price.

Yes iOS no sideloading, on android I can do a bunch of stuff, root, install ad blocker, remove bloatware, flash custom rom.
So far the only problem I see is transfering whatsapp data to iOS. Other than that contacts and those I think can just use the "Move to iOS Apps"
13 mini base model is 128gb. no 64G for 13 mini

13 mini is selling at RM3033 after discount, 12 mini at RM2399 but rdy stock.
The difference is RM700
For 13 mini need to pre-oder because all the reseller currently out of stock.

What you get from 13 Mini compare to 12 mini is
- Newer A15 chip
- Better battery life
- Bigger storage 128 GB
- slightly better camera
- Smaller notch, but taller

considering the upgrade in space is worth a few hundred bucks, i won't really go for 12 mini.
and yes, it is 1 time trouble (see cheap paid options in shopee) for Whatsapp migration.
Don't buy something and cripple it with lack of space la. Why not just get the plain IP12 128GB. Solves quite a few problems. Just a little too big for 1 handed but you can get by...and eyes not suffer.

if price is your concern, i bet 12 mini make more sense as battery life not much difference with 13 mini, but 13 pro wayy better...coming from lifelong android user,i opt to try ios this time n i choose 12 mini but seriously 128gb i think is better option.

bought cheap used 12 mini for my own use just to try it,after 3 month++ using i love it very much especially the size, but i noticed every month battery health drop 1%, now at 97%. anyway not an issue as i already adapt to it smaller battery by using it casually, for my usage if charged 100% since morning i can safely arrived home at 9pm with 20% battery left with mixed usage of socmed, 30 minutes of games, 1 hour waze and the rest primarily on whatsapp and browsing.

for me the most important criteria of choosing 12 mini is the size and i cannot brain buying 13 mini that much more expensive.

Few things to consider.
1. The phone out of warranty.
2. You might need to prepare RM399 for battery replacement in the future when it's below 80%. Since battery at 89%, maybe next year you will need to replace the battery. If bloated battery, the replacement cost is higher.
3. Based on all the feedback I received, 12 mini battery life is not good, ur charging cycle might increase, which leads to faster battery degradation.
4. By using 20w fast charging could also lead to battery degradation, because it generates more heat.

Right now shopee senheng is selling 12 mini base model 64G at RM2399.
Let's calculate:
Used 12 mini cost 1500+399=1899
So the price difference is 2399-1899=500

New 12 mini comes with:
1. one-year warranty
2. Brand new with 100% battery

So do you think saving 500 is worth it? icon_idea.gif

just my 2cent.

Agree with your analysis except the 64gb 2399 part.
Shouldnt you use 128gb price instead as a comparison?

Considering to finally upgrade my secondary phone which is a trusty iPhone 7.
Thinking between upgrading to either iPhone 11 or iPhone 12 Mini.

If my consideration (apart from budget) is photo quality, does the iPhone 12 Mini offers a significant improvement as compared to its predecessor and is it worth the $$$.

I am already using Samsung S22 Ultra as my main phone and now that iPhone 7 is running out of updates.

There is no iPhone 11 mini, but if you are considering between 12 and 13 mini then looks like minimal difference in photo quality.

Ah, what I meant was iPhone 11 vs iPhone 12 mini. Battery aside, is the 12 mini camera worth the extra $$$ instead of the 11.

for me, Iphone 11 no night mode on the wide angle is a big big loss.
next is the lack of face unlock with mask another big loss.

i cannot bring myself to buy it. regardless of price. if i have to save i'd rather get the iphone SE.

Duly noted. Also it is slightly more future proof, I guess.
And in simple terms, the difference between the 12 and 12 mini is just the screen and battery size, right? Camera and other functionalities are the same, right?
