I got few K i wanna save in bank, wanna reopen a Maybank account.

Open a new Maybank account coz it have the most feature in banking.

Problem is i got debt in maybank credit card, cant remember exact date/year

Cc approved somewhere in 2005 2006.then overused around 2008.

I try pay little by little around 2008 2010.
So as usual they call to settle maybe around 2011.but i keep push away, delay the call about 1 year, few months later they offer settle less but i didnt follow through. Around 2013 /14 no more calls.

My Maybank account was frozen then, then dunno blacklist or not.

Not sure ccris or ctos got afffected. But was able to get a loan for car around 2016.no red alert call from maybank.

Question now 2020, if i open an account, saving account in maybank, will my name come up in their system and they start again chasing me with calls or if i keep few K in maybank they will hold my account, freeze or take the money to settle old cc debt.

If i can open a new Maybank account without risking they disturb my money in the saving account can i reapply credit card?

Or i cant open new Maybank account?

Anyone care to walkme through

it depends on whether they sold your debt to 3rd party collection agency. would suggest you check with bnm your credit history and get your free ctos report. That would give you an indication. Your 2016 loan was with maybank? Best if you have friends in maybank and they can check the system for your details.

Doesn’t matter if the debt was written off and sold to a 3rd party collector. In the system it’ll still be recorded as unresolved collection.

TS, a lending relationship and deposit relationship are treated separately. Doubt they will block your savings account application, and they can’t liquidate your savings to cover the CC debt, but they can start calling and sending you letters again because the system will have your updated contact info and it’ll show you as active.

They might not be able to liquidate your savings to cover CC debt, but they can do other things to your savings account. There was a customer who failed to pay his housing loan instalment for a few months, and the bank froze his debit card and placed a hold on his savings account balance. The customer complained and the bank only lifted the hold once he agreed to settle his instalment payment by a certain date.

So i would suggest to TS to either settle off your loans before opening an account. Or don't open one in Maybank. Already 10 years ago, I'm not sure why no legal action has been taken against you yet, but you might want to check your ccris for more info.

you can try applying another cc and see if you get approved.

car loan is easier because if you dont pay they can always repossess the car.
house loan too.

casa account should have no restriction, you can just open a new account anytime.

last time i owed cimb 50k, i just walked in cimb main branch and open an account, no issue at all.

Some time it depend on how much of the money. If more than 50k sure legal action because can direct go to bankrupt.

But let say it is small amount then Banker will just start a panel lawyer letter which cost them RM50 per letter to frighten those people. If the person still ignore then banker will evaluate the entire case worth to go long run court case or not.

Anyhow, those people will in black list and non of any bank can let the user to open new account in any bank anymore.

Speaking about debts.

I am currently living in a house which my wife and I bought from the previous owner.

On and off I'll receive the son's credit card statement from sotong bank and out of curiosity I opened the letter. Turns out he has owed > RM80K in debts and is still unpaid.

There was a time I also received a letter from both the bank and another company which mentioned that the bank has transferred the debt collection to be managed by another company.

Any implications since the mailing address is my current house? Those letters seems to have stopped for some time already though after MCO.

Why not settled the previous outstanding balance?

You did use and owe the bank and its fair to pay them back if u really want to use their service again. Else stay away from Maybank since u still want to lari from the debts.

Sigh, don't do things that u don't want others to do onto you.

unless if they come and splash red paint well... nothing much they can do. most of the time they will send debt collectors looking for mr or mrs so and so but u just tell them the person is no longer live here, you can find em at Nirwana Memorial Park.

Latest was some court letter addressed to that person [which he hasn't updated the mailing address] and I saw the date of the court hearing - 24/11.

no worry they won't deduct ur account and ban your account.
1. Your debt will be with them forever + Interest + legal fees + legal fees interest.
2. When ur debt reach to certain amount, yup they come after you.

good luck.

Before I moved into the house, I remember got ah long dropped by. Cos he threw a lot of name cards on the main gate and nearby - probably to show the neighbours he has borrowed money from loan sharks I suppose. One guy also asked me whether the neighbour was in.

Anyhow, my wife and I bought the house when it was listed for sale and so far since moving in, we've not received any untoward visits from any ah longs, just the continued mail correspondence either from bank, credit company, court letter etc. hmm.gif
