Sad to hear that. Hope you guys will still carry Lorwyn boosters though. Is this price rise just Malaysia or is everyone else in the world gonna go through the same price hike?
*
It's for Malaysia and Singapore as far as I know, and I guess other countries in SE Asia as well. That's the thing, everyone else in the world already gone thru the price increase, only in our region price has been the same for 7 years plus..

True2, even though the price increased, i have no choice but to keep buying oso, the thing is it IS sudden... id rather have the RM1 increase every year rather than popping RM3 higher than normal... at least there is a price trend and maybe for wizards, by doing this they can avoid losing magic players duncha think?

I wan fatpack!!! I wanna read the storybook and folklore novel... wonder how its like hehehe~~ Hopefully theyll give spindown dice(D20) coz i hate those plastic spindown counters
*
Yeah, that would have been the ideal situation. If the price had increased RM1 every 2 years since 2000 then now we will be at RM13 per pack already, and won't have this shock increase shocking.gif

So what do you guys think, will you still play Magic at this price ah?

i think the change here is for the suggested retail price. unless the distributors price changes, packs should stay the same in malaysia. the price increase worldwide happened because wizards increased the distributors price. if there's going to be an actual increase in pack prices in malaysia, it should be rm1 extra and no more than that.

When WotC increase the MSRP you think they just keep the price the same for distributors? I doubt that WotC increase the retail price only for distributor or retailer to earn more...

this is from my understanding ...

wizards have pulled the distributorship from CC. Now retailors have 2 deal directly with Hasbro Malaysia. Also ... the cost of products have actualli gone up .........

This message is not meant in any seriousness smile.gif

However, from an economic perspective, we cannot (justifiably) suggest that RM1 every 2 years since 2000 is preferable to RM13 now.

Assume for simplicity sake, that:
2001: X packs consumed RM10
2002: X packs consumed RM10
2003: X packs consumed RM11
2004: X packs consumed RM11
2005: X packs consumed RM12
2006: X packs consumed RM12
2007: X packs consumed RM13
and interest rate between 2001 and 2007 is constant r

You would have saved X*(1+r)^4 + X*(1+r)^3 + 2X*(1+r)^2+2X*(1+r) by having the entire increase in 2007, assuming that X and r is non-zero.

So, while we complain about the shock, we should be thankful that we have RM13 now, as opposed to RM1 every 2 years previously (if those are the 2 options we are comparing against).

From an economic perspective, the appropriate comparison is the RM13*X you are spending now against other opportunities (i.e. the opportunity cost of the money you are spending on this hobby relative to what you could spend elsewhere e.g. Adrian's visits to the massage parlour smile.gif or Aniki's Armada home biggrin.gif )

Even Armada hasn't gone up by 30%. Think RM188 has been around for at least 3-4 years!

How did they lose the distributorship? Thought they were doing a good job? They actually promoted Magic quite a bit, right, with their tourney centre.

Ugh, one look at the formula already I know it's better for my brain we only have 1 increase now shocking.gif

Anyway, that was my point la, that if we look at this from the positive point of view then we've enjoyed a low price all these years compared to others. laugh.gif

overall i dun think lots of players would be quitting since i'm sure many would have invested in lworyn (i've invested in time spiral block instead as lowryn doesnt suit my playing style)...

after playing decks with teachings and houseguard, i'm not used to deck without tutoring anymore lol...

Hahahaha... Its true... theoretically increasing Rm 1 every 2 years is more disadvantageous if u think of it that way... but it is just not an ease to the eye for the price trend la... thats all im saying... anyways... hell with it... im forced to play by myself... cannot stop... magic is really a stupid game... and lets ask wizard to stop with this short set... considering increase in price already put a hole in our pockets... dont make too much set hahaha

This is bad for NEW players who are just begginning to enjoy playing Magic...Money will be their biggest hindrance. But for the majority who are deeply into the game (or should I say too addicted tongue.gif ) like me, a 2RM or 3RM wouldnt really matter...Given the fact that everything else increases in price anyway, then it should be ok!

And by the way, just look at those players who attended the FNM last nyt at Manawerx, man Im betting they wouldnt mind adding extra RM to feed their decks with new pieces from Lorwyn since were gonna say bye bye to shock lands, hierachs and confidants soon...

Just my two cents smile.gif

The price increase has been put off for quite some time. Now even PTQ give us an option of flight tickets. My Valencia tickets is worth RM4k alone. Someone has to bring home the bacon somehow.

Ei goodluck on yout PT dude! Hopefully we could see you on some feature match via podcast rclxms.gif

Actually don't need to wait for the fatpack to get the book because the day b4 prerelease I saw Lowryn's book on sale in a bookshop. Cost RM33.90 (If I am not mistaken) laugh.gif

I don't think they will host the tournaments, that should remain the same as Hasbro only taking over the distribution. But whether tournament fee will go up... ???
