Yeah, I kind of regret that
But anyway, I think I will be coming over to mana tomorrow evening for some last minute playtesting. Hopefully I'll able to make it to the nationals, otherwise I'll have to look forward to the next season. |

Mark: He only splashes green for goyf.
As the tourney report, well, I'll see if I have the time, and do something about it. |

Because he play wishes, he can simply go fetch a Debtor's Kneel and reanimate for the win. Otherwise, he can tutor Scion using the pact, and God forbid, he can actually hard cast the other dragons if he draws them. That deck dies to hard counters though -- the reason why he didn't made it to the top 4 (he lost to omnicord).
As for me, I was lucky enough to beat Project X with MGA -- a damn impossible matchup imo. This post has been edited by retep: Aug 20 2007, 04:34 PM |

Playtesting, and drafting on MODO is getting tedious lately. Will in section 14 tomorrow, and hopefully I can find someone to playtest with, in real life.

What happened to Xeon? Thought his storm deck was strong enough to win the tourney
Anyways, the national looks bleak. The constructed part is OK for now, but it's the limited that I'm worried about |

The constructed meta was way different than what I expected - dredge and proclamation. I tweaked my MGA deck to beat RDW and Angelfire.
But anyway in the nationals I went 0-3 in first constructed, 0-2 in the second, after which I dropped. As for my draft, I went 2-1 in the first, and 3-0 in the later ones. In the past few weeks I did not really playtest on constructed, and was drafting like crazy online, but I wouldn't have thought my constructed will be a big flop. After this I will be concentrating on improving my draft skills further for GP Bangkok. Hope to see you guys in the nationals next year. Edit: kalspawn: I work in Megan Avenue, and so I often go to KLCC for lunch. This post has been edited by retep: Sep 2 2007, 09:52 PM |

Turned out, Manawerx didn't had enough people for today's T2 tournament, though we had just enough people for draft. Had a great draft and learned a lot from the good players today.

The picked distribution was 2-1-1-1, etc.
I picked Teferi and Hellkite, Zu Yong picked Extirpate, and I can't remember what other good stuff was up for picked. |

7chai: I'll bring the cards you've requested tomorrow. Yeah, what Shaun and Naz said was true: I'll be slowing down in magic; there's too many stuff happening between work, gf and video game/anime watching hobby. I'll still come for the FNM and maybe, the weekly tournament whatever. For now, doing well in GP and qualifying for KL has priority, so yeah count me in for Lowryn drafts.

Dread is definitely a bomb. Probably good enough as first pick, but since it's a rare, well, you'll rarely draft it especially when the set is like twice as large as TS.
I've just read the forum on mtgsalvation regarding the card below: Oblivion Ring 2w Enchantment When Oblivion Ring comes into play, remove target non-land permanent from the game. When Oblivion Ring leaves play, return the removed permanent to play under its owners control. COMMON. I'll definitely pick the white common enchantment over Dread if I ever open/receive such packs in draft. |

I'm not really a good drafter, but in draft the early picks shouldn't really commit you to a color and you should be able to jump ship in case you get cut off. So when you first pick Dread, you must be prepare to abandon black, in case your right is playing the color.

^ Rare drafter
Can't wait for the Lowryn to come out. Since the set is large, it's gonna test your actual drafting skill in evaluating cards, rather than memorizing the pick orders -- I like. But anyway in TSP, the ones which are regarded as high/good picks: - Removals - 4cc for 4/4, or even 5/5 (Plague Sliver) - Reasonobly costed creatures with evasion with body at least 3/x - Psuedo removal/combat tricks/tempo gainer + a body (Shaper Parasite, Draining Whelk) - Counterspells - Card advantage (Foresee, Mindless Automation, Looter il Kor) |
