QUOTE(s6xs9x @ Aug 13 2008, 11:00 PM)
onkyo owners,

I saw the 606 are able to handle speaker impedance of 4ohms (stated in the spec leaflet)
Will my Pioneer HTiB speakers work with the 606?
Please confirm. And what is the best price for the 606?
I'm in KL

Thanks
*
Yes, 606 can handle 4 ohm. I have this AVR. I'm not sure of the price in KL as I bought in Singapore for S$730. I think in KL maybe around RM2800

4ohms all round or just on the fronts .. as the spec only feature front .. not too sure.

All round. Don't have individual setting for each speaker.

QUOTE(plugtop @ Jan 9 2009, 12:25 PM)
hi frend...im new here and im totally noob regarding HT...need some confirmation here....

"Video upscaling is all the rage in AVRs today, and the 606 can upscale all analog video signals to 1080i, regardless of the connection, for output via HDMI. When fed a 1080p/60 or 1080p/24 signal, the Onkyo passes it unmolested, which isn't the case with some AVRs on the market. Faroudja's DCDi Edge technology provides the deinterlacing. "

from http://www.guidetohometheater.com/avreceiv...k606/index.html

does it meen 606 can upscale 480p to 1080i???
*
Yes, can but don't expect mirage. There is slight improvement only. If you expect the Astro picture quality will look like bluray after upscale, you will be disappointed.

That was part 1, part 2 I told her no good coz 'cap ayam' cables. In order to fully realize the potential of FullHD need branded HDMI 1.3 cables, bought and pasang oredi..... no difference!!! So to make her happy must pay fr her visit to the saloon  mad.gif

But then thats my experience, there r many ppl who swear only by switching to M***ter cable the Astro become HD  whistling.gif

Ha ha ha...sori lah...u never asked mah....Anyway u get your AVR approve right? icon_idea.gif This is good idea to get approval from HM...

If you purposely go down to buy maybe not worth it. For me, I bought it during one of my business trip. Instead of flying down, I drove down. By the way, round trip from Changi to Sim Lim square no need RM250. S$50 should be enough.

Not sure. I think it's 10% import duty and 5% sales tax.

maybe they export to singapore then malaysia import back from singapore?
can put more expensive price for shipping and taxes.

btw, anyone know where to find onkyo home theatre systems (all in a box)?
I went to pavillion the other day but cannot find one...

ttp://www.intl.onkyo.com/products/system_components/home_theater/index.html

One more thing, any place can sell old/unusable/junk A/V equipment ah?
I got a 40-something-ish inch monitor, unusable yamaha amp, unusable sony LD player, unusable onkyo a/v receiver & subwoofer, 4 tannoy sattelite speakers and some other a/v crap...
I got so many garbage in my room, i can't put any new stuff in.
