if denon 15xx, 17xx, get yammy better

for denon, i propose min 23xx series and above, the lower range are overpriced and not worth it, hey...even their higher range are way overprice here...vmad.gif

if can get SR605 for SGD600..just go ahead lar....

btw, Desa HT selling the old (new stock) Yamaha 2600 for 2.7k.....tempting...

Aiyoh...the more I hear the more confused I get. I thought I already made up my mind on 605 but now don't know already.......

Anyway, I found 1 set of Wharerdale Cyrstal (CR40x2, WH2 center and surround) for RM1680. Quite a good buy but not sure if can match the 605 or not because the shop only have Denon. This price is almost same like the Jamo 606. Another choice will be the Mordaunt Short Carnival 9 for RM2500. Which one will you go for?
*
The CR40 + WH2 for RM1680!!!...expensive

CR40 x 2, Desa Home Theater selling for RM550
WH-2 center can get for arond RM200
the WH-2 surround I think for RM400

if you buy everything together should be around RM1k nia.....for such old models.... shakehead.gif

who said Denon 1508 cannot do PCM 5.1????

that's the most basic signal and with HDMI 1.3a...1508 should not be a problem handling PCM 5.1...even my very old Sony can do PCM 5.1 with analog connection.....

Denon's lower-priced receivers are similar, but there are some significant difference. The AVR-1508 and the AVR-1708 both offer dual HDMI 1.3a ports, but they're video-only ports, which means you'll need to make a separate connection for audio. The AVR-1908, on the other hand, offers true HDMI switching with audio, along with onscreen display, which both step-down models lack. The AVR-1708 and the AVR-1908 both feature Audyssey auto setup, along with upconversion to the component video output--the AVR-1508 is lacking both of these features.

oh...sorry..their HDMI 1.3a is for video only...so funny hmm.gif shakehead.gif

but they can still do PCM 5.1 if connect through analog connection.... biggrin.gif tongue.gif

the Jamo A102 biggrin.gif...u gotta check with RX330, he has the set with him pairing with Onkyo SR605...and he said cannot hear the different between DD/DTS with LPCM 5.1/DolbyTrueHD....

but refer to the spec...I think the dynamic range starting from 150Hz is too high and a lot of bass will be missing....

htkaki, i just bought 605, and u wan me to buy 705? u siow ar?

mpyw, dolby true HD and DD the difference is the bass ar?
*
no lar....

the diff...clarity, accuracy, dynamic range and details.....most noticeable is the amount of details and surround effect thumbup.gif

the bass is the comment to your Jamo A102 lar.....maybe u need a better sub to compensate that and set the crossover higher for the lack of low bass to your compact satellite....

your setting for all speakers should be SMALL since your speaker can't handle low frequency and send all the low frequency to the sub....

what's the spec of your sub????

from paper can only check the spec...need to listen then only will know if it suit your taste wan...
