MCMC opens 20 investigation papers on mobile service providers

two compounds have been issued to service providers which did not meet the standard set, with compounds offered amounting to RM60,000 and one compound being processed amounting to RM20,000.

"The compounds involved the service of Celcom for failing to meet the standard in Sabah and Unifi Mobile in Melaka and Pahang,”

As of Jan 25 this year, he said 1,466 existing 3G transmitting stations have been upgraded to 4G by main service providers such as Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile.

the existing backhaul would also be upgraded to fibre optic in some areas to accommodate higher radio capacity in 4G service

The upgrade of 4G backhaul and transmitting stations, would ensure higher quality mobile broadband access with quality experience for consumers after the 3G service is completely terminated.

Through the National Digital Network (JENDELA) plan, Zahidi said 2,175 new towers would be built to expand 4G coverage especially in rural areas and the interior.

Those compounds are mere pocket money to telcos. rolleyes.gif

Yoodo @ Celcom suddenly switched off their 3G on the stroke of midnight on 4th April at my area.
Unlike other Celcom sites which leaves their 3G on but cant access data.

Well lets see if they refarm the 4G in my area..or just switch off to save electricity.

Most people don't understand the major benefits of 5G, it is not only for mobile phones, it is also targeting for auto robot, IoT devices to enable automation, 5G can handle more devices that simultaneously connecting to 5G

These robots/IoT devices can do many things to replace human jobs, such as self driving car, smart farming, traffic monitoring and control for jam-less public transport. this is the reason why many countries want to roll out 5G.

these stuff wont come out overnight, at least not in Malaysia.

Even going 2yrs later we will not be missing out much. Why adopt so early paying the premium on those 5G equipments?

Celcom 4G at my parent place really unusable inside our house. weirdly, first month of transition from 3G to 4G got no issue, but after 1 month all gg, even worst than 3G era.
But Maxis/Hotlink improve alot after switching to 4G.

I agree with you… based on the rate of the progress (which they are still fighting on how to leech out more money via the single wholesale network), Msia will not see such implementation any time soon.
I only can relate the current direction like the HSBB. Look at how long it took to ‘fiberize’ homes and offices!

I think it is nationwide for U Mobile. Cuz U Mobile don't have their own 2G network, unlike the big 3 telcos.

So for those who using a non-VoLTE supported phone, then at least the 3G network can be used as a compatibility fallback, hence still able to make calls/SMS.
