As shared by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), 80% of the total 253,860 3G carriers have shut down, which leaves 50,486 3G carriers still operational.

This explains why you could still get 3G reception in certain areas
the delay to shut down the remaining 3G sites was due to flood and monsoon season, and the complete shutdown is targeted to be completed by 31st March 2022.

The spectrum utilised for 3G can be repurposed to improve 4G coverage and capacity.

digi / umobile : band 1 2100mhz
maxis / celcom : 2100mhz main, 900mhz band 8 some town and ulu place

Did you try if can access with internet connection or not.
Like Umobile, there is 3G but cannot use the data connection. So its as good as Voice-only 3G.
Celcom 3G , up to time of writing - Still can use data connection.

Maybe Digi forgotten about MV basement parking area 😁
Got 1 signal point / blast still in operation...

3G shutdown making many trouble weak connection & easy drop
4G network still too weak to catch up the gap

it's like a Ferrari, Lambo, built for hyper speed but if its for normal person to get from point A to B or even just goto nearby mamak shop, then even a Myvi can get to where he/she wants to go. No need for ultimate speed.

I view 5G is like VIP Exclusive club.
And the govt is forcing rakyat marhaen just to give way to the Elite.

Someone should create a petition to plea not to shutdown totally the 3G. We rakyat still need the kampung roads when 4g highway is jammed.

20mbps is more than enough for average users, latency and stability is more important to me.

money for everyone. from 5G patent holders to chip maker to 5G tower installer. new 5G base station. new 5G related job. new 5G device

Yours 5G connected speed when everything is good is depend on your plan and quota.

Most people don't understand the major benefits of 5G, it is not only for mobile phones, it is also targeting for auto robot, IoT devices to enable automation, 5G can handle more devices that simultaneously connecting to 5G

These robots/IoT devices can do many things to replace human jobs, such as self driving car, smart farming, traffic monitoring and control for jam-less public transport. this is the reason why many countries want to roll out 5G.

MCMC opens 20 investigation papers on mobile service providers

two compounds have been issued to service providers which did not meet the standard set, with compounds offered amounting to RM60,000 and one compound being processed amounting to RM20,000.
