As shared by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), 80% of the total 253,860 3G carriers have shut down, which leaves 50,486 3G carriers still operational.
This explains why you could still get 3G reception in certain areas the delay to shut down the remaining 3G sites was due to flood and monsoon season, and the complete shutdown is targeted to be completed by 31st March 2022. The spectrum utilised for 3G can be repurposed to improve 4G coverage and capacity. https://soyacincau.com/2022/02/26/mcmc-mala...la-2021-update/ 3G band digi / umobile : band 1 2100mhz maxis / celcom : 2100mhz main, 900mhz band 8 some town and ulu place |

Dunno, it seems like I'm getting call issues again - calling in/out. Yes, I do not have VoLTE yet.

QUOTE(Sam Leong @ Feb 28 2022, 01:04 PM) Hmmm Did you try if can access with internet connection or not. I tot Digi already close all 3G network in Kuala Lumpur But i still can get 3G in Mid Valley In Basement Parking Like Umobile, there is 3G but cannot use the data connection. So its as good as Voice-only 3G. Celcom 3G , up to time of writing - Still can use data connection. This post has been edited by SleeplessEyes: Mar 1 2022, 03:58 PM |

Can just see how incompetent we are... Especially the related agencies / ministry involved... Failed planning.... Both gomen & telcos... Yet now for 5G.. Got argument over what deployment model for 5G in Malaysia 😛 |

Tell me. What's the ultimate benefit of 5G apart from super speed?
it's like a Ferrari, Lambo, built for hyper speed but if its for normal person to get from point A to B or even just goto nearby mamak shop, then even a Myvi can get to where he/she wants to go. No need for ultimate speed. I view 5G is like VIP Exclusive club. And the govt is forcing rakyat marhaen just to give way to the Elite. Someone should create a petition to plea not to shutdown totally the 3G. We rakyat still need the kampung roads when 4g highway is jammed. QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Mar 3 2022, 09:32 AM) Tell me. What's the ultimate benefit of 5G apart from super speed? 20mbps is more than enough for average users, latency and stability is more important to me.it's like a Ferrari, Lambo, built for hyper speed but if its for normal person to get from point A to B or even just goto nearby mamak shop, then even a Myvi can get to where he/she wants to go. Some people just one some ego booster... Follow the latest trend... Now it's 5G thingy.. Whatever I doubt the actual speed.. Just look at 4G... On paper vs actual speed is way far / different 😁 kevinpss liked this post

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Mar 3 2022, 09:32 AM) Tell me. What's the ultimate benefit of 5G apart from super speed? Most people don't understand the major benefits of 5G, it is not only for mobile phones, it is also targeting for auto robot, IoT devices to enable automation, 5G can handle more devices that simultaneously connecting to 5G it's like a Ferrari, Lambo, built for hyper speed but if its for normal person to get from point A to B or even just goto nearby mamak shop, then even a Myvi can get to where he/she wants to go. These robots/IoT devices can do many things to replace human jobs, such as self driving car, smart farming, traffic monitoring and control for jam-less public transport. this is the reason why many countries want to roll out 5G. dgboy liked this post

MCMC opens 20 investigation papers on mobile service providers
two compounds have been issued to service providers which did not meet the standard set, with compounds offered amounting to RM60,000 and one compound being processed amounting to RM20,000. "The compounds involved the service of Celcom for failing to meet the standard in Sabah and Unifi Mobile in Melaka and Pahang,” As of Jan 25 this year, he said 1,466 existing 3G transmitting stations have been upgraded to 4G by main service providers such as Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile. the existing backhaul would also be upgraded to fibre optic in some areas to accommodate higher radio capacity in 4G service The upgrade of 4G backhaul and transmitting stations, would ensure higher quality mobile broadband access with quality experience for consumers after the 3G service is completely terminated. Through the National Digital Network (JENDELA) plan, Zahidi said 2,175 new towers would be built to expand 4G coverage especially in rural areas and the interior. https://www.thestar.com.my/tech/tech-news/2...rvice-providers |

That's why these telcos should focus on "improving" LTE service and forget about "providing" 5G. Let DNB conquers 5G and fail on their own terms... prosibu liked this post
