Hi x50 users, would it possble to add an external headunit that has Android Auto above the headunit like this video:

Power via the 12V socket, and to listen to music, it uses the FM transmitter (in video set to 87.5Mhz). Anyone have experience with this and can maybe share how the sound quality is like using the FM Transmitter. Tq

I used this kind of FM transmitter as below before. Better than radio because the transmitter is close by, but the quality degrades over time. Think it’s between radio and Bluetooth quality. For comparison, best would be USB / streaming quality.

If you going to pay money for the makeshift 3rd party why not spend RM350 to allow android auto / CarPlay?

RM350 for what seems like a “hack” that allows the unit to install Google Play Store sounds like a total scam to me. In their FB, they even stated that they got the “hack” from the Phillipines Geely Coolray community. I may sound like a hater idk.

Ps: the “hack” mentioned above is just a serial code enabling developer options in the X50 unit, thus allowing us to install third party app via APK sideloading. It’s been discussed in reddit countless time. We get the serial code, we get Android Auto (the seller 100% uses Headunit Reloaded to run Android Auto and AutoKit app to run Apple CarPlay (Carlinkit Dongle needed). Mind you, Headunit Reloaded is a paid app so this seller might get into trouble if caught.

That's the challenge now haha. There's code for X70 available but won't work with our X50.

Yeah the main point is to enable apk sideloading. I just want to install autokit.apk to enable Apple Carplay. And maybe Waze : (

I will try see what can be done from my side. If by 3 months if I can't get anything maybe I'll give in and just pay the RM350. Lol.

Available there is the method through enabling engineering mode.
Geely password is jh3280 but don't know what's the password for our X50.
But I think there's other methods to sideload apk without engineering mode.
