Im currently facing an issue with my knee.
Got an appointment with Doctor but later referred to a physiotherapy under rehabilitation unit of the Hospital.

To be honest, Im not so sure if they really can help me or not.

Cos in 2009 I already had the same treatment flow with Govt Hospital, then I came across this. They practice Manual Therapy for their patients.

Anyone has any opinion or experience on this.

me? back in circa 2000-2004, once in 3 month must go gh. but to the surprise, only xtrays and just to see a doc. see them just 2 time. now, still pain in the joint.

please go and consistent to their program. i mean the physiotherapy under rehabilitation unit. if u mind, tell here or pm how much the cost.

meanwhile eat viatril or artil as supplement. and viatril is superbrand and cost more.

Oh no the last time in 2009, I was only slotted for 3 sessions in a month and then they asked me exercise at home. Thats about it. Just recently during MCO that it starts to give me some issue again.

So went back to Doc and they cant say or do anything much as the test they did proves that my knee is still fine except if I got it checked via MRI.

The last few procedures I went cost me almost nothing except for time.

This Physiomobile company on the other hand charge starts from RM150 a session.. but they got some package and which they recommend for a few sessions instead of one session..

Can you tell us what issue is your knee facing? Since they checked that your knee is healthy, it's not surprising that they ask you to exercise since it could be a muscular issue rather than a joint issue. It's important to train muscles around joints as they're the ones that protect them and will, most of the time, prevent joint problems from happening.

I tear my ACL basically but it still intact. They didnt recommend for operation back in 2009 but after MCO recently it came back with some difficulty...

One hour per session.. but they emphasize on Manual Therapy which is not being practiced regularly at Hospitals (govt)

Sounds like your current condition might be a sequela from that trauma, no wonder they asked you to exercise... Good amounts of muscles will strengthen the joint and could help improve the condition. Make sure to eat sufficient amount of calcium and vitamin C&D too. Just my 2 cents. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah I believe so, gonna start working on some of the exercise first. Hopefully it can solve my problem a lil bit. But Im interested to go with an expert physiotherapist if they can give me a much better insight to what I should work on faster.

Cos my time at the hospital is a bit limited and the gap is certainly too long to wait to get more info or guidance.

I have knee issue as well. Did alot of strengthening & stretches but came back during MCO just like you. Maybe sit too long.

Now go physio they will ask you to do strengthening on other parts like gluteus medius. Alot of stretching work & exercise to do. RM 175 per session. Can sign 10 sessions at RM 1,500 but i think i might go MRI scan to see if i have ACL tear.

Much interested on your progress also bro.

I think its the same. They will ask u walk, sit, stand, etc to check your posture. Then will massage your thigh area maybe will put needle also.

Then here comes the stretching or strengthening which they find u may be lacking.

"Physiotherapy, is it necessary?"
Absolutely.

The issue with government physiotherapy is you wouldn't get a lot of attention due to a high patient:physiotherapist(PT) ratio.

A private PT would be able to tailor & monitor your progress. However, it is more costly.

A proper program should incorporate an active approach to rehabilitation (exercise, strengthening) sometimes, with some passive approach.
Passive modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot/cold pack, dry needling ALONE is ineffective.

I just visited yourphysio.my in their Cheras branch. Took 3 sessions to get rid of the pain in knee, probably got the pain from frequent running

I had a similar experience with my back. I was really into dancing, and in 2015, I had a minor accident while practicing. From that day on, I suffered from severe back pain. Initially, I didn't seek any treatment, thinking it would just go away on its own, but it didn't.

Recently, I finally decided to go for physiotherapy for back pain treatment. I was referred to Dr. John, who specialized in manual therapy, much like what you're considering for your knee. Honestly, I was doubtful at first too, but the difference it made was undeniable. Dr. John worked with me on specific exercises and manual therapy techniques that were tailored to my issue. It took some time, but I started noticing a reduction in my pain and an improvement in my mobility.
