Hi guys, I’m a newbie here. So I’m getting the new Myvi 2020. Just wondering what are some mods that you recommend to improve the car’s performance wise as in power and handling. What are some good mods that you recommend ?

I plan to do a few mods :

FTuned suspension
Anti roll bars
Exhaust system
Rims and tyres
Sound system
Soundproofing

Please share some insight as I’m a newbie to modding. smile.gif

Thought of getting a Yaris, but looking at market price at mudah for the brz/ft86.. don’t you think it’s worth it go for that ? Since Myvi to Yaris is about 20k (comparing for the highest spec which is 20k ish ?) and then from Yaris to BRZ/FT86 is another 20k ish difference ?

Exhaust wise I won’t be going for cap ayam, been doing some research and I found max racing ? Intake, headers and exhaust with dyno graph of improving 19hp

Sound system cause I love music, not gonna be having woofers or anything.. maybe just changing the head unit and component speakers

Just want to improvise the car in general nothing much, hence the mod list.

max racing? mehhh overpriced. u put drop in already sufficient, for 2nr-fe got Powerzone extractor, which is tuned length and made by chromoly steel.
this on confirmed proven since 2004 mia haha, or better yet go for supercircuit. other than that your list should be sufficient. any more than that can consider hard core mod ady. for example bolt on turbo lol

Myvi g3 go for ftuned road comfort or road touge, then use michelin ps3 tyres, soundproofing especially the rear wheel arch is a must.. can hear sloshing noise when driving on wet roads..

Biggest immediate "tuning" impact without any modding nor even any increasing of hp is by just addon the plug&play, Throttle Controller to the Mg3 rclxm9.gif ...then, the rest will depend on your wallet weights brows.gif

19HP!?!?!?

tell u something bro, the car puts out something like 100... 19 is a 20% increase, ur not gona get anything near that amount regardless of what they tell you. realistically if you slap the car on a dyno before and after, ur looking 5-7 (maybe, thats me being pretty optimistic)

Is the 2NR-FE similar to the 2NR-VE ? But I know for a fact I can’t do anything much for power unless I do hardcore mod like turbo and such. But anyone of y’all here using Myvi ? Any mods that y’all have done ?

FTuned Road Touge, Im interested in installing that but I tried finding their price and apparently it’s 3.6k including installation 🥴🥴

Exhaust I don’t wanna do cap ayam, I wanna get a extractor but I only can find maxracing so far. EXSS, any review on that ?

Anti roll bars I’m not sure to go for Ultra Racing or SuperCircuit.

I plan to do a few mods :

FTuned suspension
Anti roll bars
Exhaust system
Rims and tyres
Sound system <-- this will drain your battery more depending on the setup, and you'll probably need to add another extra battery.

In specific order:

- lightweight rims + performance tyres
- Coilovers
(suspension / adjustables) FTuned is a well known local brand, I'll warrant their work and the maintenance is affordable.
.
with those first 2 done, your car will ride much better and tackling corners will be easier and firmer. Wet surfaces depending on which tyres you pickout but ultimately DO NOT speed over puddles of water, the car is too light. You can consider bars, it's a cheap alternative but honestly the difference is unnoticeable (I skipped this until financial status allow for undercarriage bars)

- intake system
- exhaust system
- dyno tuning / throttle booster

.
this is where the fun begins, expect better response with shorten 1-100km/hr runs, rear roaring & head turning and at the same time burn that hole in your wallet. We're forsaking fuel consumption and the car's integrity for the gain of a few ponies, it is important that this is done properly and don't cheap out on labor and parts or you'll suffer the consequences dearly. I included throttle booster because some of them can be set manually or via an app but most of the stock throttle boosters will work on a stock MYVI setting not on a modified MYVI, it'll work yes but the performance is not as good as a properly tuned DYNO since you'll be tuning to the current specs of your car instead of a preset throttle booster which is set for stock MYVI.

all the above is achievable below RM10k

You pay what you get. Maybe you can consider bc racing v1, less than 3k with. Nothing much different than ftuned. Yes, I’ve used both. And I prefer bc racing.

I’ve used Exss exhaust system on 3 cars, >10 years. Just go and visit his workshop and he’ll give you opinions on what. You’re looking for.

After all mods done, get a stand-alone ecu and go tune it. You can call it a day after that.

Ok about stand alone ECUs, how much can it even push with stock internals ? I mean I understand and know for a fact that it’ll be tough to squeeze ponies from the engine and there are only very few mods unless I go for turbo which is not what I’m planning.

Lightweight rims, tyres and coilovers are definitely in the list.. just that power I’m not sure what can it even do.

Sound system just very simple.. swapping out the 4 speakers for a better one, no woofer.. or maybe an underseat woofer ?

UR market it as safety bar is misleading. Stiffer ARB = improve handling is a bold and not all accurate claims. If they happens to have the size you need, by all means. If not please don't simply install the vanilla package. That's dangerous, this is not one size fit all setup.

Sharing
My car come with 15mm rear arb. The rear is not a lively as I would like to.
There are 2 popular options 19mm and 22mm from enthusiast research and testing. 19mm will kick out the tail, but still relatively neutral. 22mm you can basically do lift-off oversteer at will, it is the go to choice for auto crossing goers. There are also 22mm with double link mounts, the further mount would make it behave like 19mm for safer street use.

I didn't change in the end, knowing probably dangerous when my family members drive the car.

You see those are properly calculated stiffness, where buyer are informed what to expect after the change. Not a vanilla solution.

Although the rear is not as lively as I wish, but the arb chosen is balance for street use. Upgrade the rear make it more fun to drive, but one simply put a front tower bar without upgrade the rear first, that would upset the balance. The front already have 24mm arb stock, want to touch the front must upgrade the rear first for that particular car. The key is balance, know what is your use and what stiffness you looking for.

Mazda tends to have more fun setting, remember seeing 22mm front arb + 18mm rear arb stock.

Wow that’s a lot of info. Thank you so much on your insight. Really eye opening about arb. Are you using UR arb ?
