The brand got a lot, almost every shop also got sell different brand that you never heard. This is why hard to recommend you before you visit your bike shop. Only after you visit the shop and see what brand they offer then may be you ask in here better. Because some brand is very lap sap.

QUOTE(techjunkie @ Aug 23 2021, 10:40 AM) I did use this tool, but those cheap plastic ones which I broke 2 of them while trying to get the tyres back onto the rim I also did pump a bit air into the tube before attempting to put the tyre back in. BTW, can pls give a link or where did you get this from? The one I intro you can not broke one. Inside got steel. This is best tool so far for me compare to others type. I buy online in lazada. Cost less than Rm10. Hihi.

QUOTE(techjunkie @ Aug 23 2021, 11:19 AM) I was changing those non foldable ones, which explains why it was so difficult to put it back on - lesson learnt. Since I broke those plastic levers, i used a few stainless steel spoons using the handle and managed to get the tyre back on, not after bending the spoons to 90 degrees and tearing the inner tube in the process problem come out. You use narrow rim with wide tyre or narrow tyre with wide rim ?

QUOTE(blizzardcarl92 @ Aug 23 2021, 02:22 PM) yeah man. really too many brands. just want to have a casual ride with my partner around the neighbourhood. don't need too canggih but at the same time want to get a decent one la at least hahaha OK. Like that more easy. Below RM1k if you see: 1. Polygon then buy else 2. XDS then buy else 3. Raleigh then buy else 3. Exitway (I not sure this brand still got or not) then buy else come back discuss again.

QUOTE(monocle @ Aug 24 2021, 10:53 AM) this is almost impossible lol why not impossible? So many already quit cycling and jump ship to running or marathon. Bike shop closed one by one from last decade. From the peak time my area got 15++ bike shops until now left 2 or 3 only.

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Aug 26 2021, 11:38 AM) What frame you using there? Quite an odd size. alloy frame. The worst case is to buy hope seat clamp which cost me RM130 and the size is bigger a bit (38.5mm). Or buy Fouriers SCL-S007 38.1mm but it is not a quick release clamp. Really hard to make a choice.

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Aug 26 2021, 11:50 AM) Not planning to get a dropper seat post? Then no need for the qr clamp. I got consider but seem my frame is outer cable setting and the dropper seat post is so heavy some more it is not cheap. Even entry level dropper like KS/DNM/FA also cost RM4xx~6xx. If those RS/Fox cost more expensive. Also hard to find good outer cabling dropper.

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Aug 26 2021, 12:02 PM) If you do a lot of enduro trail. Those with steep and big drops, its a good upgrade. Initially I had the same thought. Also on the weight. Once I started using it and got used to it, it's a nice thing to have on your bike. I like bunny hop with my current bike. But after I get this new frame I think I need to consider the whole setup. Especially the weight, need to control it below 18kg.

QUOTE(coklatua @ Aug 26 2021, 10:04 PM) Is it specialized frame? My stumpy use 34.9mm seat post but 38.6mm clamp. I found 34.9mm seat post. But not the clamp. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32998216389...1ee9100631f5-57This one 38.6mm clamp.. https://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/product...=30746507411491It is not specialized frame. The seat post you intro seem like carbon seat post. I prefer 3D forged one piece alloy seat post. I notice this size either is carbon material or alloy folding bike seat post which got 600mm. Regarding the seat clamp if I use dropper then can use this wolf tooth or Fouriers clamp which no need quick release. Else need to use hope clamp. May be I will seek from taobao. Thanks a lot.

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Aug 27 2021, 04:03 PM) Hi , I'm New here. Just want to seek advice, I have this 26" bike , single speed . And it comes with stock all terrain tyres (like a 4WD kind of tyres) . I find it difficult to ride even on a very gentle slope. Not even going uphill. Akin like putting 5th gear (on a car) at slow speed and trying to accelerate . Any suggestion to improve it? I am just planning to ride onroad , around the housing area. Which one should I change? the rear gears or the tyres? Thanks Base on what you describe hard to give you advise until you post your bike photo here. After you post, then tons of advise will come out.

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Aug 28 2021, 12:38 PM) Okey here it is. Acquire it several years ago, with the intention just go nearby and tapao food. Then parked behind the house for years. Now in progress of restoring and upgrading it. Closer look at the gear set. I counted for the front crankset it is 40 teeth whereas the freewheel rear hub is around 14 teeth. Is it possible if I change the front crankset to lesser tooth (say around 32 teeth) so that the riding effort is reduced? I dont mind losing the "top speed". Right now it feels fast only on flat ground but even that also can feel abit of a struggle after a while. This kind of bike huge selling for foreign worker. Mostly use 1.95 tire. The tire width range from 1.95~2.1. I saw those bangla ride fast too. So you can use this bike train yourself first. First lube all moving parts. If you can not ride on 40T front and 14T rear how you gonna use those 42T/44T front and 11T rear? Some more it is 26" wheel. Imagine if it is 27.5 inch or 29 inch it is more hard for you. So no need to change anything yet since the bike look so new now. This bike ride in resident area not an issue at all.

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Aug 30 2021, 10:12 AM) the hell, 40t x14t on 26 wheel is like 36t 15t on 29 inch, this shouldnt be hard to pedal infact I find that even my 38t 11t MTB is too easy on gear at flat ground. wow... even it is correct but too straight not good. LOL Should encourage normal ride and not aim for speed for MTB.

QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Aug 30 2021, 10:54 AM) One of the main issue I see in the pic of his bike Is the level of the saddle. Why is it so low. How to cycle efficiently ? This explains why he was having "power" issues. This kind of bike only 1 size. So it is totally depend on the height of the rider. QUOTE(skyblu3 @ Aug 30 2021, 11:01 AM) Yes. Correct And since he is not using it on off-road trails. Replace the knobbly tyres with road tyres. Or semi slick. I have one old yokota Yosemite MTB, with Columbus chromoly tubing...my dad's MTB. I replaced the tyres with maxxis detanator since I'm using it on road ride only. Ride in resident area use cheapo cheapo chaoyang tire also not bad la. bang of buck already. Hihihi.

QUOTE(coklatua @ Sep 6 2021, 10:41 AM) I have SLX 12 speed. If your ride is mainly consist of steep technical terrain it is worth the 50~52 tooth. But if your ride is mainly flat, not so steep, I think it is useless. Since you have 12x drive train, need to ask you that switching from big cog to small cog in 12x system is that slower than HG-X ?

QUOTE(coklatua @ Sep 6 2021, 11:52 AM) In term of gear change speed, I feel no difference to be honest. Just as quick as 11 speed. But I feel the gear change is snapier. Maybe because the hyperglide+ effect as this time I use full shimano 12s groupset (RD,Shifter,Cassette,Crank, Chain). Thanks for sharing. Because now I need a groupset and suddenly saw a lot 1x12 Deore in the market now. Price seem ok. I think 12 speed drive train all still made in Japan. Below 12 got Indo and china made.

QUOTE(coklatua @ Sep 6 2021, 12:42 PM) If you want to save a couple of gram, you can opt for Deore M5100 11 speed with 11-51T. Still have pretty much the same range as 12 speed and still made in Japan. Bonus is, you dont have to change freehub as this M5100 cassette still using the good old HG freehub. 12s shimano cassette use MicroSpline freehub. Haha... correct. But 4 and 5 series Deore made in Indon now. Can not find any 4/5 series made in japan in the market now. 12 speeds RD and shifter now almost same price with 11 speed (46T) and cheaper than 11 speeds (50T). Hub I not yet build, so only will buy freehub (HG/MS) after I pick the gear(10/11/12) first. Some more dono want to use shimano cassette or sunrace cassette since sunrace last 2 cogs are aluminum.
