Anyone have any comment on the shopee Maybank card? Applied and already approved by Maybank, but having second thoughts now.

Many people commented that it was not good...most of the promo and vouchers need to use shopeepay. so shopee card cannot apply or stack benefits.
*
Yea I just read few pages of this thread.

Am already using Citibank, standard chartered and HSBC for shopee purchases. Feel redundant to get this card if cannot get coins for shopee pay reload...

Why did I even apply for this lol, the rm555 campaign is not even guaranteed . Maybe I'll just throw away the card when I receive it

didnt see for new cardmember only ...and now cant even get the rm50 ...lol

the application process was pretty easy ...fill up, ask to sign in, enter tac and then confirm voila submitted ...was like ok ...
then 3 days later received sms saying approved.... now donno wat to do after reading the comments above cant stack this n that ....maybe reap all the benefits till breakeven with sst and cancel it before 1 yr ...

Actually not much benefit from this card, other bank cards have tng and grab reload campaign, even the bank vouchers in shopee are better than shopee's own card.

Really don't see the point of this card...

thats exactly what I thought when it was first launched hence did not apply for it
...and now I had accidentally applied for it for looking at their RM555 ads and itchy fingers...i dont think i will be using it for shopee purchases unless there is free shipping voucher nonshopeepay since reloading into their ewallet using their cobrand card means NTH!

The only thing that seems worthwhile now to me is perhaps the paywave and dining for 2x coins on normal day ..eqv to ~2% if I had utilised citi cb plat of RM 150 @ 10% and PBBQMV wave RM 600 @5%....

might take a while and during special days if any spending to breakeven the sst unless I dont activate and cancel the card ...

any other thoughts on this anyone that its worth keeping for?
*
My hands itchy too and applied because of RM555 ads. Only when I dig for the tnc it says highest spender only...

Oh well, gonna cancel the card because the cashback is in coin, which you have to spend to use. Better use PB QMV for 5% actual cashback for offline purchase.

Once it is approved you are already charged government SST even if you never activate the card. You need to activate and pay the RM25 before throwing it away, otherwise I believe it will start being charged interest and even worse appear on CCRIS.

Sign up bonuses should cover that RM25 (I think they give you some amount of coins etc?) though. So if really you think no benefit (I agree, cancelling my wife's one soon) then just don't use. But pay the SST first.
*
You sure? As long as I don't activate the card and call CS to cancel it, I do not have to pay any SST.

All,

I am planning to buy a laptop. I have two options at same spec;

i) to buy from Lenovo website @RM 3162.32
ii) to buy from Shopee @RM 3680.66

If I go for option i), I plan to convert the purchase to Maybank EZPay plus (as their website only accept HSBC) but there is 9% p.a/0.75% monthly "management" fee.
Monthly 199.40 for 18 months
If I go for option ii), using Shopee installment option 0% interest
Monthly 204.48 for 18 months

As you can see, there is only around RM5 different. Which option should I go for?
*
Never pay management fee for installments.
Either find another way to get (i) with 0% EPP, or to save up money and pay lump sum.

I will check on HSBC card

U rather pay interest for the installment facility, or to pay a higher price just to get 0% EPP even though you have the cash?

Stupid question, since Maybank grab card gives 5x points for grab pay top up, if I reload RM1k, can I expect to get 1000x5= 5,000 points ?

Card got approved this Wednesday and received the card this morning. Planning to swipe RM3,000 to GrabPay and get 15,000 points + 8,000 points.

Based on the latest grab online voucher redemption, 3840 points is RM30. This means that 23k points is around RM180. This is about 6% cashback.

Hey guys, is it better to use the Maybank grab cc for grab food or grab mart instead of grab pay? This is because we can get 5x instead of getting 3x?
*
I
Yes, you can get 5x instead of 3x

But don't forget you will get 5x if you reload to GrabPay first.

So it's essentially 5+3= 8x
