i can vouch for the bold statement...i am staying in miri

this hotlink HUP35/45 is attractive...but too many complaints from friends on maxis/hotlink service
*
Maxis is king especially in KL but otherwise Maxis lags behind Digi and Celcom in East Malaysia. So many rural places that Maxis doesn’t yet offer 4G service whilst both Digi and Celcom already provide 4G connection for so long.

This is the reason why there is Maxis Postpaid 68 Sabah/Sarawak that offers unlimited calls & SMS, 30GB mobile data and eligible to sign-up for 1 Maxis share line, which is available only in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.

An update to the HUP45...

I did a Careline123 call...

Scenario:
We topup RM45 to gain 45 days validity. But HUP45 is active for 30 days only. So, from 31st till 45th day, the Careline123 does NOT know what is the speed. It can be PAYU, ZERO, or 64kbps or 512kbps... A mystery to be solved... As for unlimited call, definitely PAYU.
*
Should be 64kbps since there is no active pass.

QUOTE(Candy12 @ Jun 11 2020, 07:37 PM)
Maxis's biggest drawback now is its inability to provide VoLTE/VoWifi HD calls compared to the smaller players.

Without that they'll still be hindered from becoming the industry's leader.
*
There are people comparing Maxis to Apple. They are not always the first. But somehow the quality is always there, hence its premium pricing over other players.

QUOTE(Candy12 @ Jun 11 2020, 07:37 PM)
The Hotlink Unlimited plans will severely impact their premium Postpaid plans which is considerably way more expensive despite gaining more market share.

Do not overlook the importance of VoWiFi calling, it's now the most cost efficient way to push fibre fixed lines and also cover blindspots, indoors and high rise residential buildings with higher definition calls.
*
Which is why Maxis is likely to focus more on marketing its bundle products judging from its super aggressive expansion in the fibre business field, be it Maxis Postpaid + Maxis Fibre or Maxis Fibre + Astro, just like telco in Thailand.

We’re already seeing Maxis giving out discount for the Hotlink Postpaid + Maxis Fibre bundle package, and now Astro too is heavily promoting Maxis Fibre with Astro bundle package that costs less than subscribing to each service separately. It’s just a matter of time until Maxis starts doing the same to Maxis Postpaid Unlimited and Fibre package too. They get to tie you up with 2 years contract too. It’s a big win for Maxis. They have to worry less about their subscribers suddenly jumping ship. In fact they have to if they want to stay on the top of their game.

So?  What so great about unlimited prepaid compared to unlimited postpaid?  Other than the PRICE?
*
Whilst many are calling Maxis a cheat, I personally think the FUP is fair. It’s a wide known secret that many are abusing the supposedly unlimited data plan with either zero hotspot or limited hotspot quota with modified modem, like what we’re seeing with Digi Postpaid 80 & 100 Infinite, and that is cheating too.

Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited RM35 and RM45 passes are meant solely to be used on your mobile phone. The only thing I agree is that the more expensive RM45 should come with higher FUP, say 75GB.

I have been a Digi Postpaid 150 Infinite user for over 2 years now and I stream a lot full HD videos on YouTube. I even used it on my Huawei B618-65D modem to stream Netflix at the best quality picture on my smart tv. Even so, I usually just come to about 100GB of mobile data usage every month. So I’m not sure how a person using Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited is going to bust the quota limit every month, provided he doesn’t cheat.

There have 1 package called maxis one prime. It comes with unlimited full speed LTE data ( FUP 300gb per month) . Just fyi.
*
Yes. I’m aware of this plan as my parents are on MaxisONE Prime (since renamed as Maxis Unlimited Postpaid and Fibre last month). But the thing is, they don’t get any discount at all for subscribing to this bundle package, not like the RM50 discount Hotlink offers to its Hotlink Postpaid and Fibre package. And now Astro too is aggressively promoting the Astro + Maxis Fibre bundle package by offering RM30 discount to existing customers, which is very nice too. The only thing is out-of-contract Astro subscribers will be re-contracted for 2 years due to Maxis Fibre. But considering they are offering RM30 discount, I suppose that’s fair.

So I’m hoping that Maxis will offer some sort of discount to its subscribers on Maxis Unlimited Postpaid and Fibre too. That is how telco in Thailand are fighting for customer base now with bundled packages at cheaper price and unlimited mobile data. Currently Maxis is doing only one thing which is offering unlimited mobile data but not cheaper price. But as price war intensifies, i can see Maxis has no choice but to do so eventually. After all whatever they are doing now, with focusing more on selling and marketing postpaid bundle packages is a carbon copy of the telco business model overseas like Thailand and South Korea etc.

QUOTE(coolstore @ Jun 11 2020, 11:12 PM)
is that a telco can implement 'isolation' mechanism?

means now there are basically 2 groups - ordinary plan and unlimited plan

when more & more users of unlimited plan connecting to a station, speed among them would be reduced accordingly. But it won't affect ordinary plan users as some kind of 'reservation' technique kicks in. true?

btw, i still on hotlink fast 3.0 plan
*
Maxis only do that by separating Maxis and Hotlink, whereas Maxis gets the priority of everything.

QUOTE(coolstore @ Jun 11 2020, 11:15 PM)
this unlimited plan sounds good for money sake but i afraid regret as usually unlimited plan performance deteriorate over times
*
Not Maxis or Hotlink but my Digi Postpaid 150 Infinite has been great so far, and I’ve been using it for more than 2 years now. In fact in some areas I’ve noticed some improvements such as Mid-Valley South Court and the 4G+ speed at my home can reach over 100Mbps now, up from 60Mbps previously.

But otherwise, I’m very happy with the performance of Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited RM45 pass too after using it for a few days. I now hope Hotlink will soon introduce e-SIM.

Why not just take the hotlink flex + home fibre, and subscribe  2 HUP for your parent? It could save a lot of monthly commitments.

My dad is happy with his MOP128 with 1 active MaxisONE Share line at the moment that come with unlimited data ever since he’s on MaxisONE Prime. Whilst the price of Hotlink Postpaid + Maxis Fibre bundle package is very good, he has no plan to switch over to Hotlink because it doesn’t offer supplementary line. Besides, he’s also on contract now because of Maxis Fibre but he’s fine with that as he’s been with Maxis forever. We’re just hoping to see the same kind of discount being offered to MaxisONE Prime like the Hotlink Postpaid and Fibre bundle package in the near future.

I’m personally using Digi Postpaid 150 Infinite because I’m originally from KK, and Digi performs better than Maxis there. I used to use this a lot on both my iPhone and hotspot via Huawei B618-65D because we had no home internet. Usage however has gone down significantly since my dad upgraded to MaxisONE Prime. I did think of downgrading my own line to Digi Postpaid 80 since one can get up to 70GB data from the 25th month onwards but I’m worried that I may regret next time since Digi Postpaid 150 Infinite is such a good plan. So I’ve decided to stay on the Digi Infinite plan.

Besides, Digi offers VoWiFi and it works overseas which really is Godsend! I travel a lot and there are times I need to call back to Malaysia landlines (home alarm system, banks, airlines etc.) and Digi VoWiFi consumes your local minutes even when you call from overseas. As in if I were to call back to Malaysia from London using my Digi line whilst connected to WiFi, the call will be treated as local call within Malaysia. That really can save me a lot of money. So at least one of us has to keep a Digi line. Not to mention Hotlink Postpaid offering isn’t very suitable for me, as in I feel there is too little data quota. Hence no chance of me to switch to that and my parents change from Maxis Postpaid to Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited.

Any idea how it works if I upgrade from my current Hotlink Fast which is valid until say 25 June.

Also my current credit that expires on 26 June.

How would it be carried over to the new HUP
*
Your validity shall be reset to 30 days upon successful upgrade.

How much MNP cost?
Sim card cost?
*
It doesn’t cost you a single cent. Just go to Maxis Centre run by Maxis itself - KLCC, Pavilion, The Gardens, Sunway Pyramid, Plaza Lowyat etc., not the authorised partner.

Sure or not... which jungle area is this....? j/k...

MNP-i is free, but open a new account/SIM needs RM10...

Not Maxis. Maxis doesn’t even charge RM10 stamp duty for new postpaid account registration.

Same as Hotlink Prepaid and Postpaid? Free for new account/SIM? We were discussing about Hotlink all the time but Maxis Centre as the physical store to MNP-i...
*
For Hotlink Postpaid and Maxis Postpaid, you need to pay 1 month advance commitment fee. SIM card is issued free of charge. For Hotlink Prepaid, you don’t have to pay a single cent and SIM card is used free of charge too.

Conclusion:
At any Maxis Centre:
1) Hotlink Prepaid Port-in = SIM is free.
2) Hotlink Prepaid Brand New Number = RM10 for the starter pack.

Are these correct?

Yes

I think most likely the 4g signal wave can not penalty the thick wall or there are metal in between your phone and signal tower.
Signal is getting weak is happening everywhere. Friend, u r not alone.
*
Telco or building owners need to install additional receivers or something. That is one of the reasons you can get full bar of signal no matter you are inside the lift with the doors closed or in a tunnel in South Korea. That however is costly. But that’s part of the reasons you do not have to hang up your phone inside the lift in South Korea. This however, isn’t doable anywhere else, not even in Japan (about the lift).

Since it just happened, request to see the manager to lodge a complaint. And insist they just to the plan your aunt wants.

Last time it wasn’t necessary to redeem all the Hotlink deals with points. I guess they try to limit the deals you can redeem on Hotlink as to make Maxis more exclusive as one still can redeem any Maxis deals anytime without the need to exchange point or anything. And some of the best Hotlink deals available last time were Lazada and Shopee discount.

hi guys can i downgrade from Maxis Postpaid to this without porting out?
*
Yes you can. They just don’t allow you to perform service migration to Hotlink Postpaid Flex.

Anyway, Maxis now requires you to stay active in Maxis postpaid for at least 6 months before you are allowed to change to Hotlink Prepaid or to port-out to other telco. So make sure you fulfil this criteria prior to walking in to a Maxis Centre to request to change to Hotlink Prepaid Unlimited.
