What do you mean by over abuse?
Is watching online TV considered abusive data usage?
In fact, it shouldn't even be advertised as unlimited when there's FUP limit. It's a misleading ad. It should state 3Mbps or 6Mbps up to 50GB per month. Then it's clear transparent to customer. I know its still considered unlimited because that provide 512kbps after the FUP, but this TnC is stated in another Q&A page, which is not straightforward. One needs to research more to understand the package.
Using mobile device to track the data usage may be a way to monitor the data usage from customer end, but how about from service provender end?

this is how malaysia works. everything comes with a tiny 'terms and conditions applied'. even for banking services. users just got to be smart and do their own homework.

Welcome to Malaysia friend the fine line is after 50gb itd 512kbps so consider unlimited. No choice Malaysia don't appreciate extra or bonus. Previous many fourmer show-off they abuse terabyte of data's no throttled. Now telco smart they start putting FUP so everyone can enjoy the data so yes its consider abusing data usage because if your goal to watch movie high definition and crazy even 10tb is not enough so isn't that call data abuser? You need plan your usage.
Like I watch Netflix I take celcom broadband with 1tb until now cannot finish then at home I use unifi unlimited. I don't take hotlink unlimited for a phone abuse data then said watching TV online consider abusing right?
All telco got fup question is how much. This you need thank malaysian that overabuse it then they show off their success online so some of us can't abuse lightly.
This kind of practice isn’t unique to Malaysia. Even in the west where consumer rights are better protected, they all do the same too. Just refer to USA’s T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon unlimited plan. All markets their unlimited plan but with FUP. Some market it more like MaxisONE Prime, as in no hard FUP but after a certain usage they may their absolute discretion cap your mobile speed. I suppose t&c like this is the reason why some MaxisONE Prime subscribers experienced almost unusable data after they have reached 300GB FUP whilst some didn’t, because Maxis says whether they will throttle your video steaming speed is at their absolute discretion.
