FIA not deduct both McLaren driver point bcos they want fans watch F1 in four remaining races,it same situation with Sepang`99 case when Ferrari win 1-2 but clearly use illegal deflector panel and FIA disqualified both Ferrari driver which mean Hakkinen win WDC before last GP in Suzuka
then FIA change their decision and give 1-2 win back to Ferrari

it is clear that McLaren is guilty, that means their drivers have been driving an illegal car.. BUT, THEIR points are okay and the team's revoked?
dosent make sense does it?

thats me with my Ferrari hat on tongue.gif

*removes hat*

anyhow, a devastating news for Formula 1 in general..
its good that Hamilton can get to keep his points.. he has been a real talent and more is in store from the young man
he clearly deserves the title... flex.gif

alonso on the other hand....its best i keep my comments abt him to myself.. rolleyes.gif

well....I think it is quite fair, constructors ferrari can take but for the driver's championship, come and get it

You can't really blame the decision of the FIA, ferrari's reliability is even worse than mclaren this year

yes... i find the punishment a tad unfair

i find this the biggest joke of all posts.
fairness ... AHHAhahAhhaa. laugh.gif whiners rolleyes.gif

well u know what ... ferrari should be punished for failing to keep their own engineer & information under their own roof. that is called responsibility. dont forget stepney is the root cause of everything. no ?

im pretty comfortable with the result. at least we wont be seeing a ferrari domination next year. anyway with mclaren having 0 points, they might not have the money to build a competitive car next year. thus we might still see a ferrari domination. good for you guys. hope you'll enjoy watching every race that ends with the same car passing tru the finishing line. worst come to worst ... same driver.

i want kimi to win, but winning like this is .... meeeeeh... pretty boring yawn.gif

Thats an even bigger joke. Surely there are no laws in any part of the world punishing the victim of a theft? How about I come over to your place, steal your car and have the cops throw you in jail for failing to be 'responsible'? wink.gif

No its not complicated at all if its the so called 'responsiblity' you are talking about. Its a similar principle. OK, to make my analogy more accurate, your maid/employee passes me your car/valuables/information etc and you get busted behind bars.

no it's like this biggrin.gif

my employee passes my car to your employee, and your employee use it as a company car, subsequently you and your employee get busted. You're behind bars coz it's your employee and it's under your responsibility.

what would you think ? you're responsible for your employee, but what about me ? i fired my employee and thats the end of it ? unfair ? in terms fairness, surely u'll think that me and my employee should be fined or something. of course getting me busted would be too much. laugh.gif

back to F1, i think the verdict is fair enough. smile.gif

McLaren fined and stripped of constructors' points

McLaren have been excluded from the 2007 constructors' championship and fined US$100 million following Thursday's FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) hearing in Paris. Drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have not been penalized and are free to continue their fight for the drivers' title.

The penalty follows McLaren's admission that the team was in breach of the International Sporting Code through their possession of confidential technical data belonging to rivals Ferrari, who are now all but assured of the 2007 constructors' title.

McLaren are also required to submit detailed plans of their 2008 car to the FIA, who warned that it could apply further sanctions relating to next season should any irregularities be found in the car's design.

At July's original hearing, the Council opted not to punish McLaren as it decided there was no proof that the Ferrari data had been used. Thursday's second hearing followed the emergence of new evidence and the FIA's request for McLaren's drivers to submit any information they had that might be relevant to the case.

The FIA will explain the reasons behind the Council's decision on Friday, after which McLaren will decide whether or not to appeal.

The full statement from the FIA:

In an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council was held in Paris on the 12th of September 2007, The following decision was taken:

"The WMSC has stripped Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of all constructors' points in the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championshiop an the team can score no point for the remainder of the season *.

"Furthermore, the team will pay a fine equal to 100 million dollar, less the FOM income lost as a result of the points deduction.

"However, due to the exceptional circumstances in which the FIA gave the team's drivers an immunity in return for providing evidence, there is no penalty in regards to drivers' points **.

"The WMSC will receive a full technical report on the 2008 McLaren car and will take a decision at its December 2007 meeting as to what sanction, if any, will be imposed on the team for the 2008 season."

The full reasons for this decision will be issued on the 14th September 2007.

* Points gained by other teams so far this season will not be affected.

** No McLaren representative will be allowed on the podium should a McLaren driver win any of the remaining races of the 2007 season.

A championship is worth nothing won in an illegal car.

For the fans & for the McLaren drivers winning the 2007 championship would be a hollow victory no more meaningful than M Schumachers win in Indianapolis 2005.

How the FIA saved Hamilton
QUOTE
The FIA knew they had to punish Macca because there was no other way out for them.So they send the drivers a stup1d letter promising amnesty when they knew nothing would come out of it.In this way they can save Hamilton and keep interest in the championship by getting a convinent excuse.

This whole thing stinks.I wonder why Ferrari is not pushing for complete explusion of McLarrari unless ofcourse some backdoor deal has been worked between the FIA and them.

British has brought justice to the lowest standard in human history....burn in hell lah you.
