Guys, any comment or opinion about this Chopper type of motorcycle?

I love its barebone design. Can i ride this going highways? Or it is just a toy for short distance cruising?

this bike been out quite some time oredi here is msia, regal raptor, cmc daytona, gpx twin etc etc all using the same enjin cos china copied the honda enjin.

sold all over the world.. under all sort of brand name..

google utube fb, all can find alot info..

using carb.. less chances of sudden death..

as long as you enjoy it, bicycle also can ride highway unless the law specifically forbids it.
konvoi kapcai (i mean really santai konvoi without superman) goes 70~90kmh.
some Harley's like the 884 can go only 130~140kmh cruising, so this one should be fine too.

i look @ the used price..

ppl say better jz get the virago 535..
proven, ez to get parts, and its a 'Y'

These bikes use rim sizes that are non-17 inch, something that holds me back as used the variety of 17 inch tires.

I was looking at Modenas dominar 400 for a daily motorcycle for commuting 30-50km daily, occasionally JB - KL

From the looks of this Bobber 350, i suppose comfort is not its strongest point for long distance riding right

I own this bobber so maybe my opinion counts:

@ The hardtail frame won first prize in a EURO 3 Hologomation competition so it's tough. However all Regal Raptors use too many budget components e.g. ball-bearing set, chain, spark plug wire etc. making a wide variation in quality control between motorcycle units. Some friends do not complain any issues but mine broke down by the road 3 times due to electrical failure which appears to be its main weakness. I am advised to do a complete rewiring if it becomes a frequent issue. Basically it is a good motorcycle which had its roots in a Honda Rebel 250 that the Chinese manufacturer got the rights to upgrade to 350 and add a radiator cooling system. Malaysian versions use carbs so that's easy to service by any competent mechanic. It's 16" tyres limits choice but possible to get. Finally, the Regal Raptor Bobber has a bad boy image and some people like its rugged look against its brother Spyder which has a more chopper look and Daytona which has a more cruiser look. The Regal Raptor Bobber is the longest so taking corners and U-turns is best like driving a long trailer.

@ The hardtail bobber has that classic look of the 40s era and because of that, still looks good 20 years from now. Riding a hardltail bobber is definitely harder than softail RR Spyder and RR Daytona but bareable (to me that is).

Q: Can i ride this going highways?
A: It can go to 110-120kph with ease but because of sitting position, after 100kph, the wind hits your chest and it feels uncomfortable so it more suited for cruising.

Q: Or it is just a toy for short distance cruising?
A: Under 400cc motorcycles are seen as entry level superbikes but it is a good intra-urban motorcycle. Many friends used it for long distance. However, the bobber has a small tank therefore needs to refuel per 120-130kph depending on RON type.

It’s no H-D but oozes it own unique character that stands out from the rest especially the bobber because it has a hardtail frame which I found surprisingly is appreciated by many viewers for giving that nostalgia feeling.

I will agree hands down the Virago 535 is way better in quality and power BUT the Yamaha 535 and RR Bobber 350 belong to different price bracket and c.c. group. Thus, it is definitely not fair to make comparison between a budget entry level cruiser and a mid-range cruiser. Where can, one?

It's now 7 years since I owned this budget motorcycle which met my affordability. I share my bad experiences here:

1. It broke once by the roadside due to short-circuit starter relay.
2. It broke down twice at a petrol station due to sticky switch contact secondly, another short-circuit starter relay.
3. It broke down twice on the motorcycle lane due to snapped chain, secondly, torn inner throttle.
4. It once got a tire puncture but thankfully rear tyre is tubeless and was repaired at nearby motorcycle workshop.

Some effective resolutions:

1. Closed an exposed cable hole from rain at the battery compartment with a sticker.
2. Greased the key hole to prevent contact getting rusty.
3. Replaced loose stock chain for heavy-duty O-type chain.
4. Replaced torn stock ball bearing set for heavy-duty wheel ball-bearing sets
5. Replaced torn inner throttle for aluminium version
6. Replaced worn clutch cable.
7. Grounding cable dramatically improves headlight brightness.
8. Coated the chrome exhaust pipe with black paint because got too lazy to maintain it.

As MOMOS Raptors have too basic wiring cables and contact terminals, one day I hope to do a rewiring package.

Q: Will I let go of this bobber?
A: It doesn't have Harley glamour, not perfect but engine is sound and it's relatively easy to maintain. Furthermore, I also love the looks of a hardtail bobber.

The Dominar isn't the most comfortable highway runner either. But 30-40km daily city commute is fine. If longer distances is what you plan for, get something with more than 1 cyc. The Dominar is very vibey past 130@7500rpm with the stock gearing. A smaller rear sprocket is a must for highway.

Take note the new UG Dominars have been facing quite a lot of engine issues like blown lower headgaskets, main bearing failures. It seems the V1 is more reliable with a the exception of few lemon flavoured turds.

You could get a used Vulcan 650 for not that much more than a new dominar....should you prefer a cruiser type bike.

Or a Vulcan 650.

Other than the more classic and authentic cruiser look of the v twin virago, I can't seem to choose it over the Vulcan. It's just a more modern bike with water-cooling, petter gearbox and power. But that's just my take.
