nope...the main reason Thailand become Detroit of Asia is because the open policy practiced by their government that attracts investors. Our government at that time still practicing a ridiculous policy to protect proton and scare off potential investors. I sincerely hope our government has learn a lesson a be more proactive.
Too late for that, as proton will never be left dead as this will be devastating for these local politicans and cronies which uses Proton and its suppliers as massive money makers.
So all we need to pray is to Proton to improve to reach better heights, better quality cars for us and so on. Put ur trust on the current management, i believe they can improve Proton.

do u know, y Japanese allow Toyota and honda at Rayong Thai to assemble Hi end Camry/accord, and let UMW assemble only the low end camry/accord??
becoz they trust thai workers more than UMW/Honda melaka staff..

look at our electronic/manufacturing industry .. now they(japs) are shifting their operation to Thailand/vietnam as well... nothing to do w/gorv policy..
Just admit.. Japs love Thai ppl (competitive, good worker attitude and skillful)
Though u can be annoying at times, i have to agree on your statement here. Unless proton did not exist in the 1st place, we might have camry and accords with sat navs and perhaps way cheaper car prices. While the automotive industry is a losing ground in Mysia, we still be thankful high tech companies like Dell, Intel and a num of outsource companies still putting investment and growth in their malaysia operations.
While i can see Vietnam is currently booming like what Malaysia did in the 70-80ist. Not so sure how is their worker's attitude though.
