Note sure, have telnet/ssh/webui?

I just plugged into my RB4011 and configured the interface, it seem quite hot. I still cannot access the webUI and ping the GPON stick ip.

Thanks for your reply mate, I did the bufferbloat test as you advised and the result was A across the board. So I guess no point for me to get a custom ONU. Thanks again man.

Incredible research you have done!

I'm currently investigating replacing the my current ONU with a SFP module. My intention is more of simplifying my current setup. I'm getting a B on the dslreport bufferbloat test, but I'm still ok with the current speed.

I have a few questions, if you don't mind.

I read from your research that using the custom ONU will trigger an alarm on the ONT side? Is it possible to just replace the ONU with an SFP ONU without triggering any alarm? Also, are you able to manage to get the phone line working? Is it possible to run my own FreePBX server and get the phone line working?

To avoid OLT Alarm, you need make your SFP ONU Stick like your original ONU, by updating required info for your SFP ONU Stick

Take note that GPON has fixed MTU size which is 2000 bytes.

Advantage using SFP ONU Stick allow you to use PPPoE MTU 1500, able to access many website that block MTU 1492

About Telephone over xPON, I pretty sure they use VLAN for this, refer to your ISP which VLAN they use for Telephone line, then you bridge it, either bridge tagged to tagged or tagged to untag

The current ONU I'm using is actually a TM Alcatel Lucent I240G.

The bottom panel shows a few fields:
SN1 (is this OMCI_SW_VER1?)
SN2 (is this OMCI_SW_VER2?)
MAC ID
Model Number
Material Number (Not sure what this is. Its a number in the format: 100000xxxx)

I seem to be missing hardware version, GPON_SN, VS_AUTH_KEY. What is the VS_AUTH_KEY, and how do I obtain that?

As for the PLOAM password, I think this should be the ONU password that I have. When the technicians came to install the internet for me 3-4 years ago, I asked them for the ONU access and password. I have been planning to replace the ONU since day 1 . This password is a 10 digit numerical password.

Also, from their info, I can see that the VLAN VOIP is 400, and also, there's a VLAN_VOIP_PORT, which is a string in the format 4-400-LVxxxxxxxxxx. Not sure what this is for though.

Just curious, I saw that there is a firmware dump of UFiber-Instant in your repo, did you investigate if that SFP module is usable? I'm using a ER‑X‑SFP as my router, and I'm wondering if it might work better if everything is from the same company.

that was for Ubiquiti OLT to Ubiquiti ONU, don't mind.
Most router don't care what SFP is plugged, they see as Normal Ethernet.

SFP ONU Stick it self has own Web GUI & Telnet, just like miniture ONU in SFP Form Factor

Ubnt does not have the best track record in terms of stability.

As you can see from this link, there are some issues with ER4 SFP that CarlitoxxPro himself pointed out to ubnt, but I think its ignored. The fix is already in the linux kernel as far as I know, but still no news about a fix from ubnt.

Both are works on Unifi, or Maxis/DiGi/Celcom/other ISP via Unifi (non LAN1 provision)
