Yeah. After trying out the Honor Magic VS at the store, the front screen is so nice and wide. Typing is a breeze on it.

Samsung oh Samsung. Maybe they can't simply change the aspect ratio without affecting UI or firmware stability. 🤔

Unless Samsung maintains the aspect ratio, and increases the width and length proportionately. Then again, the phone will become a giant.

I wonder if the inner screen protector has no peeling or bubbling issue, will Samsung SC still change a brand new one upon request?

Speaking of the Magic V2, one thing I cannot accept with the Magic VS is the lack of the icon-based Multi-Tasking navigation bar that Samsung One UI has. I believe the Magic V2 would still be lacking this feature which actually is part of Google's dev kit for foldables, IIANM.

Samsung just revealed their launch promo as pre-order period ended yesterday. The launch promo is nowhere close to the pre-order promo IMHO. So I guess like what you said is correct, meaning the pre-orders did very well for Samsung this round I reckon. 👍🏻

I did my pre-order on 6 Aug, received on 11 Aug via Store Pickup. Quite fast IMO. 🫠 Basically a 5-days lead time. My colour chosen was Online Exclusive Gray.

I'm still waiting for update on my Watch6 Classic 47mm which I pre-ordered on the same day 6 Aug but no news on status until now. 😑

My Matte Gray online exclusive doesn't come with it because the frame is matte. Yours is the online exclusive matte colours too?

I was thinking the shiny frame of the standard retail colours would still have the film to protect from scratches while in the box.

Based on the comments I've read so far from those that have done it, the quality is as good as the factory fitted screen protector. Most likely Samsung SC is using a machine to apply it.

I honestly would advise against this as two screen protectors stacked will increase the stress point to the middle part of the screen when the phone is folded, since the phone wasn't designed to have so much thickness of screen protectors.

But if you don't mind the risk, just go for it. I personally love matte protectors too. 😁

Perhaps what Samsung is implementing now is out of technological design limitations.

I actually wonder how other brands fare in the durability of their inner screen protectors. The only other mainstream brand folding phone that is available in Malaysia is the Honor Magic VS, but the forum thread here is extremely dead. 😅

Don't think Malaysian phone sets allow Shutter Sound toggle. Other countries like Japan likely allow.

But to me it doesn't matter much since the camera shutter sound will be muted automatically after switching the phone to silent/vibrate mode. 😁

Samsung is already trying their best, IMHO to ease the issues.

Owning a Foldable phone is indeed high maintenance as it is bleeding edge technology, and not fully matured yet in terms of durability. It's just something one has to live with. 🫠

To switch back to a conventional slab phone is certainly a big downgrade in itself, especially those that have enjoyed the wonderful experience of using a Foldable. 😁

The gear design was one of the coolest, but it does make the phone thicker somewhat. A friend's Fold 1 with the original gear design is still working well until today (he's a collector, the phone was used daily for the 1st year and thereafter used infrequently though).

Thanks! So far loving this Samsung case very much too. The built-in ring is very convenient and helps protect the case from getting scratches somewhat when place on the table. And the clear part is hard plastic, and therefore I don't foresee any yellowing over time. 😊

Are you planning to use the Fold 5 for at least 2 years since you took the 2 years Care+?

I normally upgrade every year, and not sure if the 2 years Care+ is worth it.

Wahhhhhh. No wonder Care+ 2 Years would be very worthy for you.

But actually your estimated lifespan of 5 years, hmmm, that could work. There are probably some Fold 1/2 in the wild now still, and those phones would already have been at least 3-4 years old.
