QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 27 2008, 12:09 AM) @rozz i dont believe in WC in this country ler. Unless your room is AC cooled. Its better to go on air. WC is a waste of money for normal room temps. Added on January 27, 2008, 12:11 am@haz aduh! not about the thermal paste la adik, thermal paste only reduces a tad bit, its about how you play with your Vcore. The lower Vcore u take to achive high clocks is better due to the fact that Vcore is directly related to the heat which is dissipated... hmm.. thanks for the advice..

yeah i get your point but i feel for what u r paying for a decent WC setup, the performance is just average if u dont simulate a cold environment though. Coz the system does work off a radiator so having cooler fins will help cooling at a higher rate

QUOTE(hazairi @ Jan 27 2008, 12:08 AM) Damn! Enviness in my heart.. So, u just apply a new thermal paste to the current heat sink? What's the TX-2 thermal paste price? Would wanna try soon.. Not dat expensive... Around RM20-25 can get 1 tube.... N its cheaper than MX-2.... But, apply diffrnt or better thermal paste juz makes a little diffrnt decrease in ur temp.... It depend also like VCore n casing air flow.... ask @a1098113 he knows better than me....

QUOTE(a1098113 @ Jan 26 2008, 10:39 PM) @huh windows flash bios has worked with me fine. In fact its really great. But it also depends on user, because instructions are very important to follow ler Anyways you can try what huh! has suggested.. i hope it works well for you. good for you bro, but as a matter of preference, i still prefer flasing using cmd prompt rather than windows..success rate is much higher.. QUOTE(rozz_1291 @ Jan 27 2008, 12:03 AM) No need lor..... C my sig... Stock HSF @63-65c only... OC to 3.25ghz All i did is apply TX-2 thermal paste.... Soon, waiting 4 my WC 2 arrive..... then try OC higher waaa.. your 2180 is a charm dude.. mine ca only get up to 2.9 ghz at 1.36 vcore.. bad bad bad batch..huhuh.. might as well downgrade to e2160 or maybe stay put for now and get a penryn for my future upgrade..and that upgrade will most probably going to occur in 1-2 years time...hahahha.. no money maa.. i OC because of limited budget to get high speed processors. that is a fact.. OC is a gamble and luck play an important role here.. sometimes you will a get a diamond(like yours) or a dull stone (like mine) which is why 1 CANT compare a proc DIRECTLY to anouther proc. a1098113, that is even better..unlike my proc... and about the bios flashing, bad flash MUST flash the bios again from the cmd prompt since they cant even boot up to windows.. forgot to add about that..please learn about bios flashing before trying to flash your bios or else you will end up with a dead mobo.. im not trying to scare anyone from flashing their bios, but please do your research first before doing anything.. knowledge is power.. i believe that bios flashing is something thats easily done if u can do it patiently and u follow instructions. But yes read up.
I honestly think OC is not about gambling. OC is about making calculated efforts in trying to achieve a parrticular goal. Luck only plays a little role in this art. OC for me is an art that is easy to learn but difficult to master. Even when it boils down to picking a processor, its about experience and your knowledge depth. Good OCers will research the processors, learn about their voltages, behaviours, steppings, its of course tedious to find a gem, but its worth the effort. Effort is not luck or gambling.
With what that u have, there should be little goals set for your self. No one reaches big OCing without planning. PPl plan and work out wat settings are needed for what processor. This is where you should read up and sometimes u can learn something new too. The essence of OCing is not about who reaches the highest clocks with the lowest Vcores, thats just showmanship. Its about purpose. like i said in one of the threads.
Every proc is a child by itself. Meaning they are not the same in character and behaviour. so sometimes blindly following other ppls settings will not work for you. YOu have to study and work it out by yourself. What others have done only gives you a little knowlegde of what is possible but the whole chunk of learning comes from experiment.
So OC is not about luck, its about daring to be different and being extreme. Most importantly, be humble about it. Two cents worth of advice from me. Have fun!

Gosh... MemSet screwed up my motherboard I've lost control of the FSB (Stucked at 200MHz no matter what I set in BIOS ) Any Gigabyte users experience this problem? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « BUT I managed to get things back together again by disconnecting and then reconnecting the AC power cord I was shocked at first to see my RAM running at DDR2 400MHz and bandwidth test with Lavalys resulted a puny 4444MB/s, not a good number for CNY too

Lol... Yea, everything is working fine now. Currently playing with 1:1 after reading bryan's post I can even drop my RAM's voltage back to 2.0v (Might try 1.9v but lazy to run OCCT after every different settings) since it's only running at a speed less than DDR2 800MHz

u can experiment, try 1:1 and then try with dividers see how much is the actual gain, although all my tests were synthetic, you may try with say 3dmark06 or play some games
