wah??bios prob??i hope not
i just updated it at 11am n use until now..so far no prob n also don hope any prob will happen

A09 and every other bios seems to work just fine for me. no wierd things going on. try reset ur bios to factory default, and ur power management to default, then reconfigure again see if the problem goes away

yup, like hihihehe said, press F2 during startup screen (the one with dell logo), then look for reset factory default setting in it.

just as i thought. the first sign dell wanted to get rid of 1520 is when xps m1530 first launched. 1520 is an internal threat to m1530 because of the relatively same specs at a much cheaper price. without 8600m gt, 1520 will loose its value..

mm.. what can you get now since 1520 and vostro 1500 are all discontinued? thinking of jump ship to acer? hehehe

are u sure? last 2 weeks i can still configure up to T9300 for 1520.

update: im correcting myself. i cant even find 1520 in dell's website anymore! 1520 is officially extinct in malaysia!!!!

OMG, my 1520 has become a history! I still remember the excitement of getting my 1520 last year the same time now.   
Never thought that it will end so fast! That makes our 1520 a limited edition of one of the best quality budget laptop!   
The thing I wonder is that if later our laptop got any problem which need replacement, will DELL replace with a newer model or a refurbished 1?

that's not likely. 1520 can be configured with 8400M too, and not forgetting M1530 has 8600M GT too. by the way, A09 BIOS for M1530 has been released today.

the only explaination now is the more efficient cooling system.

Ok. It's easy. Right click on the MY COMPUTER, then click on the properties.
-Click on HARDWARE
-Click on DEVICE MANAGER
-On the list there, click on  the "+" sign on the MONITOR icon
-Right Click on the PLUG N PLAY MONITOR
-Click on the PROPERTIES
-Click the DETAILS on the top panel
-then U will see a row like this "DISPLAY\AUO2077\xxxxxxxx"

The AUO 2007 is the model of your monitor. AUO means for AU OPTRONICS which is basically owned by ACER.

Besides AUO, you also might get other brand like "LPL" which stands for LG PHILIPS LCD.

DELL outsource all its LCD to other manufacturer, so you might get different model from us. 

i dont mean to burst your bubbles guys, but samsung notebook LCDs have a nasty reputation for being grainy, leaking light and uneven  brightness. i dont know which model is affected, but if you are happy with your LCD, then it should be fine.

maybe i'm in a state of denial or what...but i did apply the techniques u mentioned, and felt happy with the way things are as of now.
felt just like what i've expected of an LCD screen, I would approve their quality if I were QC analyst. maybe got used with Samsung coz all my monitors are Samsung-based. hehe.

but since you've mentioned it, i did notice my desktop LCD, I'm using a black background wallpaper, at different angles, I did notice the corners give aways some reddish lights...is this the "light leakage" phenomenon the people are talking about? ahh, out of topic.

anyways, I', Ok with all that actually, not too picky. unless these kinda issues can cause blindness in the long term. then it IS an issue.
