Don't worry pal! Dell always spins their promotional items.

Last weekend was FREE double memory and FREE carry case. The new weekdays promotion haven't update to their website yet.

i have noticed this whining sound recently after updated my nvidia drivers for both xp and vista. strangely it is only apparent when i'm running vista. for xp, it is quiet like a rabbit. the high pitched sound is only noticeable when i'm in a very silent room. is this something i should worry about?  unsure.gif
*
eh! u din say i won notice le...yea, its after i installed xp, the sound didnt bug me anymore! yea, same question, is this something i shud worry about? hmm.gif

do you have a Dell remote control?  infrared port in 1520 only work for Dell remote control, not for data transfer.
you won't see the driver/item in device manager but work for dell remote control.
*
no...when i was using vista, i did before, it can send data...im sure i did this before when i was using vista...

After taking 1520 out in several occasions, I started to feel that it's tad heavy to carry around... sad.gif  Do you have the same feeling ? Or you all just using your 1520 at home ?

Thinking of getting myself a backpack...Now I'm using the DELL carrying bag

Another option is to sell it and buy a 14-inch...
*
get a backpack dude....u shud order the targus backpack offered by Dell...Carrying case is not for laptop more than 2.2 kg flex.gif

Yea...its becoz of my fren bought it for RM40 including the earbud, the items are not promotion itemat the moment...I try to make the point that dell is selling me just the remote control for rm52 and it is without the earbud... Therefore, they do not have any reason to charge me extra if this item is already in the option when i configure my lappy online... guys! guys! make sense??? hmm.gif

I just check again the device manager on the system with fresh manufacture vista. confirm there is no infrared item/driver. i did try to send file via infrared, no response. Did you have any proof/manual show that the infrared able to transfer files? what kind of data you can send? are you sure last time send file via infrared or bluetooth?
*

ok, i found out that it only receive data from other device to 1520. Same like when u r using the remote control, it receive data from remote control when u press on it...

Yes, it's one way comm. so it can receive signal from remote control when you press on it.
do mind to share, what is the "other device" you tested to send data to 1520? computer, PDA, hp?
*
SE w880i hp, send image to my lappy...

yup.. i got that message too.. but that installation includes an updated version of creative camera software (correct me if im wrong), so what i did is i install it first, then update the driver again with windows update.
*
All i know is i update flash the bios to A03 version, then update the chipset driver and last the nvidia and creative webcam driver...all working fine...

HDD of Inspiron 1520 located next to the air vent, there is a "Strike Zone" label on it...
In fact I notice that the heat is distributed quite equally across the bottom, HDD is not particulary hotter than other areas. But the coolest portion is beneath the Optical Drive, (when you have no DVD spinning inside it of course) laugh.gif
*
my lappy is not hot at all...but it well get hot only when im doing heavy 3d rendering or playing games...the hot part is only locatred at the air vent and below the lcd hinge there...about the hdd area, i only feel the warm of it... rclxms.gif btw,may i know whats the Strike Zone for?
