Poisoned, broken, and definitely poorer.

For me, PSP means:

>> awesome graphic
>> good combination of picture viewer, video and music player
>> Internet~WiFi features (Skype, browsing, etc)
>> tons of new and old or remake games of PS2 and such (RPG, strategy, sports, etc)
>> homebrews

Still, NDSL have plenty of exclusive games that PSP do not have and to make things worse, they remake the PSP version of Disgaea BETTER on NDSL... Argh. I would say that the touch-screen feature of NDSL beats PSP upside down as well.

Anyway, people might recommend to get both, but I think either one should be decent enough - I have already find it hard to juggle between all the games on my PSP on a journey, I would faint to imagine myself juggling between two different handhelds on a journey. I was one of those who nearly strangle myself between the two, in the end, I jumped on the PSP bandwagon. Don't regret my decision even for a single second and I will take PSP again if I have to choose again.

Well, I own both handheld consoles so...

PSP
Can play music and the screen is lovely when watching 16:9 movies, series or animes. The 16:9 screen is superb when 16:9 videos come into play. I cannot express greatness of the screen. Watching movies on a handheld has never been better with this screen. Just use Xvid PSP to convert the movies into PSP-playable movies. Quality of movies are great.
Games are like your normal PS2 games, nothing much interesting there. The games now are quite boring and nothing interesting are around.
Battery life is a problem.
Good browser. Supports WPA, while the DS only supports WEP. WPA is better than WEP.
I normally use PSP to watch movies tongue.gif since the games are... well... erm...
It tries to be an all-rounder and it succeeded.

Nintendo DS
The games on this handheld are awesome. At first I thought Mario Kart DS was boring but once I played it with my friend, we went hardcore for 4 to 5 hours playing Mario Kart DS until my thumb hurts from pressing the A button. The touchscreen really works wonders. Games with intensive touchscreen usage are great (though there are some which are terrible). I really love the games on this system despite its graphics are not as good as the PSP.
Able to watch movies and listen to music using flashcarts albeit movies are not shown superbly on the DS compared to the DS because of separate screens. Hard to read subtitles on movies or animes.
Battery life is great.
Have to buy your own internet browser, or get an Ez 3 in 1.
Depending on flashcarts, you can have real-time saves, real-time guides and stuffs like that. Amazing, isn't it smile.gif
It works as a gaming handheld and yeah it rocks at the games, even first-person shooter feels amazing on the DS (albeit the graphics are... well... acceptable).
Love the homebrew applications on the DS. Personal favourite: Comic Book Viewer DS. Just amazing.

Opinion
I personally prefer the Nintendo DS when it comes to games. The games are so much fun, Mario Kart DS is one of my favourites. Pokemon is great too. Adventure games such as Final Fantasy III and IV are awesome. More and more RPGs are coming to the DS, so if you love RPGs, better get a DS. Strategy games work wonders thanks to the touch screen. Though movies and mp3s can be played through flashcarts, their quality is not as good as the PSP. Internet browser easier to use thanks to touch screen. Easier to type stuffs.

If you prefer an all-rounder handheld, get a PSP. Its games aren't as interesting as the DS but there are still some which are great to play such as Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core and Metal Gear Acid. Currently playing Key of Heaven. Love the internet browser but typing is excruciatingly cumbersome.

yup as for me is the same case
Web browser , mp3 , watching videos are not important for me in a portable device cos i don need it
And i totaly also agree that psp has better graphic but speakers loudness really soft for me even putting it to loudest in a room
Whereas NdsL speaker loudness is much acceptable

but so far being a ndsl and ex psp owner
going online gaming is more important for me
and ndsL rox on the random players online gaming
whereas psp find for hours till out of battery also can't really find 1 player randomly to play with
and whereas XLINK KAI lagi sux cos players in each games 99% locks the arena (room)
Well the best way to go online with psp is not randomly but in a advanced dating mode to connect with ur own friends.. blink.gif
So it is not the ANYTIME or ANYHOW thingy

As above my personal experience

For me, NDSL wins hands down. No region lock, addictive and very good games (tried Animal Crossing: Wild World yet?) and it has innovative features (touch screen). Resolution is low, but then, I don't really care about graphics (believe it or not, the NDS' graphics actually blew me away when I plugged in my first DS game into the DS).

I don't need a anywhere-access web browser, that's what my Dopod 838Pro is for. I don't need a video player, photo viewer or music player, that's what my Zen Vision M is for. So yeah, I'm contented with my NDSL.

I believe the PSP has no region lock either (I'm spamming missles on the Jap release Macross Ace Frontier right now)... laugh.gif

But other then that, I agree on one thing... Serious Fun = NDSL (or the NDSi... brows.gif ), although the PSP can be real fun if you know you have stuff that you like on it... biggrin.gif

Where else can you play SimCity on a handheld? Even Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe (the next nearest thing) on the PSP is utterly cumbersome without a proper touchscreen... cool2.gif

But then again, I'm a mecha otaku and the Gundam Battle series + Macross Ace Frontier are ONLY out on PSP (and even then, IMPORT only = JAP everything), so that probably why I have TWO PSPs and no NDSLs... Yet... brows.gif

Believe me, if you like mecha / robot games and you haven't tried micro-missle spamming + fighter mode melee ---> transforming to battleroid + kicking ass in melee ---> turning back into a fighter and "special attack"-ing two other suckers in one SMOOTH motion (all the while inside the coolest Valkyrie ever designed, the extremely overpowered YF-21), then you haven't lived life... thumbup.gif

And, while we're on the subject of mecha games... Please, Sony/Enix-Squaresoft... If you're hearing me say this, please, oh please bring ANY of the Front Mission games to the PSP? If you bring it to the NDSL/NDSi side, I'm gonna be forced to buy another gadget (and that's not good for my meagre pay!)... brows.gif

As for the entertainment side of things... I have my W810i to handle music, my Axim to handle movies/anime/mobile surfing (although in terms of battery life, it sucks ass compared to the PSP - but the PSP can't handle desktop sized and encoded DIVX movies now can it?), so I have no qualms... Except maybe for the utterly disheartening exclusion of the SECOND ANALOG STICK all through THREE bloody RE-DESIGNS of the PSP... sweat.gif

That's all I have to say on this matter... brows.gif

Oh, and I'm more of a solo player... So all the multiplayer advantages that the NDS side (which is utterly numerous) is lost on me... icon_rolleyes.gif

This is my must have list of games and reasons for purchase for both systems.

NDS
1) The World Ends With You
2) Final Fantasy IV DS
3) Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
PSP
1) God of War: Chains of Olympus
2) Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
3) Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
4) Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
5) Final Fantasy: Dissidia
6) Final Fantasy Agito XIII

I hope the must have titles for the NDS increases by time so that I will have reasons to justify my purchase.
Perhaps The World Ends With You 2 or something like that.

I have both consoles (just bought a NDSL haha)

What i feel so far is, PSP is very good at shooter games, RPG and uhm tekken that kinda games while NDSL is more to cute cute games which don't take much out of your brain. =P (which suits the very lazy me)

Sometimes PSP can get a little overwhelming and its not something to play on a short bus trip. NDSL suits that.

But i guess ultimately one should choose the console depending on the types of games desired. For me.......

I bought NDSL cos i wanna play Pokemon =X

Honestly, i think it depends on your requirement.
PSP is not really portable like its name....
I am a frequent business traveller, so i am talking from my own experience.
If u travel frequently, don't get a PSP. shakehead.gif

My work required a lot of travel.
My PSP dun follow me out of the country these days,
I brought my DSL only.

Imagine u r in a foreign Airport waiting for a connecting flight, that take off in say next 4 hours,
you don't want to have a PSP with you at that moment.
The battery will run dry fast! cry.gif
I know some fanboy is going to "remind" me to bring my power cable now,
dude, u can't connect PSP to a power jack in the Airport Starbucks --- Different Voltage and Connector.
Did i hear fanboy say, "bring a converter!"?
If i have to bring all those shit, whats the point of getting a portable game machines?
I might as well bring my TV and my 360,
A portable game machines, is suppose to be PORTABLE.

I guess that is the reason u almost dun see a lot of PSP even in Europe, that is suppose to be land of the PS brand.
PSP, is not really portable.

And when u walk into an overseas (say... US, Australia) suburban Game Shop,
u r likely to get 100s of DS games,
while the PSP will have a few outdated games sitting at a corner.
I remember once i was in Brisbane walking into a game shop with my PSP,
i felt like a vegetarian sitting in a steakhouse. sweat.gif

So, if u like a PS2 squeeze into smaller chasis, get a PSP.
If u want portable gaming, get DS.
