Great..
I'm curious, did they remove install unknown source in security & restrictions or just hide it..
Another thing, once the developer option enabled did it appear under settings menu?

U can try run this activity to open the menu.

Can someone install this app to check for Google WideVine L1 DRM support to meet Netflix HD requirement? For 4K support, TM just needs to get Netflix 4K certification.

You can add this link to refer to the manufacturer in the main post, but it is just FYI since it doesn't list the box itself http://www.skyworth.com.my/. All its Android TV products are not Netflix 4K-certified.

Interesting find is in the link below as follows (but more related to Skyworth business in Africa):
*
The box is running on Android TV(Operator Tier) which have all the necessary certification for Netflix endorsement.
There are few possibility on why it is not Netflix certified atm;
1. TM did not apply for the certification
2. The application still waiting for approval
3. Application got rejected

There are few other Skyworth STB that have received Netflix certification.
Ex; ACT, Xstream, TrueID(post release)

Another alternative way to get Netflix HD via Kodi+input stream but need the box owner to test & confirm first.

Welp....not for me then....
Anyway, does the box support vp9 profile 2 for YouTube 4K HDR? Pretty sure it doesn’t support AV1 but does it at least have this?

Android 9 should support VP9 Profile 2

I agree... it looks like TM needs to apply Netflix certification so it can be pre-loaded in the box. I based this assumption on your reference to ACT Stream TV 4K device for the Indian provider, ACT Fibernet: the device comes preloaded with Netflix and on its remote has the Netflix button. But, it doesn't have Amazon Prime Video preloaded. https://www.actcorp.in/streamtv4k/faq.php

Here is the list of Skyworth devices https://www.androidtv-guide.com/oem/skyworth

You can install (sideloaded apk approach using the smartphone version instead of the normal Android TV version approach from Google Play Store), but it won't play in UHD 4K or UHD 4K HDR, more likely just in SD or HD (if WideVine L1 DRM is present) due to no official device support from Netflix (since Netflix performs a server-side device verification).

References:
https://androidpcreview.com/netflix-hd-android-tv-box/
http://techblog.netflix.com/2016/08/automa...on-devices.html

On the STB device that is not Netflix-certified, the smartphone APK version of Netflix which is targeted for the CPU architecture of the device will run Netflix fine but it is not in UHD 4K/HDR. But, if it is installed in the Android TV ecosystem, it won't show the Netflix icon in the Android TV app menu list. You may need a sideload launcher on the Android TV to be able to see this smartphone-based app in Android TV.

If you install Netflix (Android TV version) directly from Google Play Store of the Android TV STB itself, it will install and appear in the Android TV app menu list, but trying to run it will trigger a Netflix error message.

Yeahh, I'm now in the junction between this box and tx3, if unifibox support hbo go, thn I go for this.

Someone just tested this box in a FB IPTV group that I’m a member of that showed this box could NOT run Astro Go smoothly. I would assume it would NOT run HBO Go smoothly too.

Hi. I just got the this new stb earlier today. My family use the hypptv on daily basis and i can say the remote is quite 'powerful'. The new remote doesnt hv quite a few important key. Such as-
-Tv control (power,volume, input selector)
-tv guide
-audio and subtitles
-numpad

I hope someone can try 3rd party ATV remote to see if anythg is compatible.

ok, that much i expected... i think u mean it cannot play live hd astrogo channels smoothly - something we already saw in other low end ATV boxes.
but it is possible some resourceful people will be able to make it work - modified apk, other methods.
hope someone does it, share here... so that the box can have another use.

we could try to grant permission to install app via adb.. but i think android 9 is more strict.. could be tm enable global restriction.. might need root access to revoke the thing.. but the box is not rooted.. hahahaha

Is there any Build Number entry from the System Settings itself? To enable the Developer Options, we just need to click on the Build Number many times until a message pops up to inform us that the Developer Options menu has been enabled. I have done this approach on my Sony Bravia Android TV successfully.

Have any of you tried the built-in chromecast function to cast Netflix? I tried casting Netflix but the device doesn't appear.

there is a password protected to enable the developer options using that method. Another option to enable the developer option is to download the developer tools from play store
