Can the box run HBO Go?

Someone just tested this box in a FB IPTV group that I’m a member of that showed this box could NOT run Astro Go smoothly. I would assume it would NOT run HBO Go smoothly too.

Just going back from TM asking about their new box for existing user. Just need to pay rm10 every month for 2years. Any ideas better grab this new box or buying other model android box. Can suggest what model. Thx

Hi guys I am keen to get this box but can I ask some stupid questions

1) does the new box connect to the router via ethernet cable like the old one hypptv box

2) how is the selection of 4k movies

3) for normal shows, any different compared to the current hypptv box

For those who are thinking of paying extra to get the new Unifi Plus Box (black box), I would suggest to hold your purchase first.

As one of the forummer pointed out, the picture quality is worse despite TM marketing the new box as "experience Live TV and on-demand in 4K". FYI, there are NO 4K channels atm unlike Astro.

I asked Unifi (via FB) and they admitted. So I basically paid RM10/extra month to get a new box with lousier picture quality. Also, the black box is basically an android TV box with a pre-installed Unifi PlayTV app and you use the app to watch the channels. You might as well get an android box which can support Netfix and Unifi PlayTV.

And if you are using modern TVs with motion smoothing (the soap opera effect), then it won't really work with the black box because the streaming is laggy/ stutters. Definitely not as smooth as the old white box.

From my own measurements:

- Old STB = constant 8.8 Mbps
- New PlayTV app on phone = average 5 Mbps

Modded PlayTV ATV app, need to install on my non-ATV box, possible?

5 Mbps is OK & standard for many legal streaming services, but as we're spoiled with silver/white STB, it's natural we demand the black STB should be at least as good.

In my case, I'll wait until 4K channels are actually available on Unifi TV. 25 Mbps 4K streams a far-fetched dream?

Your requirement need at least Apple TV 4K or even the real-deal 4K Blu-Rays

I have successfully installed (sideload) Astro GO and HBO go on this unifi box plus.
It works perfectly with mouse because those apps are not optimized for remote control.

I'm just using the sideload tips from this forum (adb) to install those app.
Downloaded apks from apkpure. Not sure whether they are official or not.

I just installed this unifi plus box yesterday, but the colour displayed by this tv box look washed out and dull. I was using Minix U9-H previously which doesn't have this issue at all. Anyone have the same experience?

need advise/info 
how /where  do you get info  on  the bit rate  when using any TV box  streaming a tv channel.

Unifi TV on Streamyx STB - 2.8Mbps, hardcoded subtitles
Old Unifi playTV app (com.huawei.phone/pad.tm 7.9.11) - 2.8Mbps, hardcoded subtitles, casting blocked
New Unifi playTV app (com.tm.playtv 1.2.10) - 4.8Mbps, switchable audio and subtitles, able to cast to TV
Unifi TV for new STB / Android TV (com.tm.unifitv 1.1.4) - probably same as com.tm.playtv but with TV interface.
*the bitrates stated are max available bitrate for most HD channels. Some channels / network conditions may have lower bitrate.
Since the new Love Nature channel is 977kbps in com.tm.playtv, I guess it's not available in HD or 4K on the new STB too. Anyone with new STB can check?
I can use com.tm.playtv since last year so I have been migrated. Been subscriber for few years. A newer subscriber that I know hasn't been migrated yet.
Addon: suggest we use the package name (com.xxx.xxx) when mentioning the apps to prevent misunderstandings.

2019 - they stop give stb to customer except whos taken tv pack.
2020 - they promote (push) people to get plus box ..
Next - they stop dedicated vlan600 .. push all customer to get plus box.
Then - open unifi tv to any ISP

is there any timeline for netflix to be made available. I thought the advertise it as such. I have a 4k tv with netflix but wanted it to work on this.

I have migrated my account since using the old white Unifi STB box in 2019 where it upgraded that box with the new UI (as reported on Lowyat.NET website). So, I have no issue to run the modified app when I installed it at the end of Jan 2020.

I'm using both version of modded 1.1.6 as well as 1.1.4 but same stuck at black screen on Kii pro.
My account has been migrated though never received any sms.
Confirmed by login into ipad

I needed the modified 1.1.6 APK for Android TV to install the Unifi TV app on Sony Bravia Android TV...I couldn't run the original version from the Google Play Store because of the device check.

Not, it is not just because the user account it not migrated. In my case, my account is already migrated. But, when I have installed the original, the app gives a warning "Not available in this device" instead of "migrated" one.

Before any confusion:

I installed the original Android TV app on the Sony Bravia Android TV KD-49X8300C; I can run bit it stops with a warning "Not available in this device"... I didn't install it on white Unifi STB since it is not an Android TV device but just an Android box.

The original Android TV app from Google Play Store accessed from any Android TV device should able to install it but any Android TV devices except the new black Unifi Plus STB will not able to run it.

The modded version works on Sony Bravia Android TV. It should work on new black Unifi Plus STB as well. I didn't install it (modded) on the white Unifi STB.

Yeah i was refering to the plus box of course. So no option to display the subtitles then.

It says, it got 3 packages that have unifi plus box.

-300mbs + unifi plus (rm199 -> rm139 promo)
-100mbps + unifi plus (rm189 -> rm129 promo)
-30mpbs + unifi plus box (rm149 -> rm89 promo).

I wonder, is the promo price true or not?  The promo price is much lower than my current subscription of 100mpbs + utlimate pack + old hypptv @rm159/month.

The promo price is given from now until the unifi plus box is available again

When that time comes, you will get the unifi plus box and the price will return to usual
