Hi guys, am considering to subscribe to Celcom Fibre since I'm their Celcom postpaid customer. Their package seems decently cheap (given that I'm on a tight budget). Anyone has experience using their fibre? Also, what router are they providing? Anyone has the model? Thanks!!! :-)

Prices are going to come down in the next year or so. Celcom and Digi will start to roll out very soon for West Malaysia. More choices for customers, besides Maxis, TM and Time.

Yeay!!!!

Hi, interested in this plan as well.
1) they're riding their own fibre network?
2) any catch? Like no P2P? Throttle speed after certain quota reached? Anything?

1) In West Malaysia, they have arrangements with TM HSBB and TNB Allo Open Network. For Sabah, Celcom has built their own open network called Celcom Timur Sabah(CTS) which covers most major cities and towns.

2) They have quite attractive plans outside TM HSBB's network if you're lucky enough to be covered by TNB's Allo or CTS Open Fibre networks. The plans offered are usually cheaper and have symmetrical speeds. However there's a drawback, they only offer CGNAT(carrier grade NAT) which is prevents you to set up CCTV or run remote services from home. Not sure if they'll provide public IPs under request.

Can I have my CCTV or other external devices connected to the service?
The service is compatible with selected brands and models of CCTV only. The CCTV must be compatible with a private dynamic IP and the CCTV supplier must be contacted for the configuration. For other external devices, it is necessary that they are genuine and with legal contents to ensure a seamless experience. Celcom will not be responsible for downgrading of experience if non-genuine external devices with illegal contents are used.

Thought? Sounds like can install CCTV and such.

Private Dynamic IP = CGNAT
Most CCTV surveillance apps won't work unless you have public IP with a dynamic DNS service in place to keep track of your changing public IP.

Can torrent just like TM Unifi and and Maxis Fibre.Fixed line normally no issue unlike mobile networks which has limited radio resources to take care with.

If you see these FDP(Fibre Distribution Point) in front of your home labelled Celcom Timur in Sabah, you're in luck.

Not only you can apply for Celcom Home Fibre, you can also apply for DiGi Home Fibre, Astro Broadband Home Fibre and also Maxis Home Fibre. Their plans are different from TM's HSBB and usually offer symmetrical speed.
Pricing is also generally cheaper.

You can subscribe for the same price of 30M for TM HSBB, Celcom Timur's wholesale is cheaper and you'll get 50/40Mbps instead.Celcom Timur network can support upto 1Gbps speed because it's newer than TM's lousy HSBB network which lack future vision.

Of course Celcom's Timur network. They offer cheaper and more competitive wholesale prices.

In turn, those packages under their wholesale network such as sold by DiGi, Maxis, Astro Broadband are generally cheaper and offer higher symmetrical speeds.

DiGi is offering 1Gbps Home Fibre plans on Celcom Timur's network.

Yes as proven here:

Average 35Mbps Down and 35Mbps Up

That's because they cap the fibre modem(ONT) profile higher to absorb the overheads giving you the speed as advertised.

TNB Allo, Celcom Timur Sabah and SACOFA(Sarawak Open Fiber Access) has better deals than TM HSBB.

West Malaysia also got. If your area falls under TNB(Tenaga Nasional)'s Allo Open Fibre Network which runs on electric poles or your housing area is covered by Maxis's own built NGBB fibre network.

For these areas, Maxis, Celcom or DiGi doesn't require TM's staff to install your line and provide the fibre modem(ONT).

They'll supply their own fibre modem(ONT) and routers to customers. There is no need for the TM logo fibre modem(ONT) and the ISP can choose to provide a fibre modem with built in router as single device to you for easier setup because they have full access to the open network itself.

Yes since it's not TM's infra, you get faster responses to repair and reports.
Maxis will directly sent their technician to your place and if needed replace the ONT themselves.

Since it's open network, ISPs have more freedom and control over their own lines.

About supplying your own ONT, they'll probably entertain business users who needs special equipment/self provided tranceiver sticks at their offices. Home users will still need to use their supplied equipment because it has to be compatible to their OLT at their exchanges.
