I can see octopath's appeal as its quite suited to portable play but the screen on the switch just turns me off - maybe when they launch their OLED switch haha. Then again, I've mostly bought physical media for switch as I don't trust their online store (purchases still tied to device?) so it's never going to be an important console in the house.

The other thing that's seamless is how my DLC has just been transferred across generations. Just booted up rock band 4 from the internal drive, no loading times and 671 song library available for play - a lot of it from my 360days. Magic. Can't imagine doing the same from the wii->switch.

Figured out the missing dolby vision pretty quickly via google and also glad to see that AMD freesync is redundant as VRR is already enabled.

Anyway tried the settings but I'm getting banding on the blacks in control ultimate edition. Ray tracing really changes the look of the game and I don't mind lower fps for this game specifically but I need to fool around with the settings a bit more.

For sure the markets will be differentiated - I'm convinced that one of the reasons why there wasnt a single region in the past was that they wanted to charge the singaporeans more for their games then it was possible in a place like vietnam, indonesia or malaysia. Don't forget that they were also known for treating the SG marketplace like shit - for example giving out the same games with gold games over and over. So I'm very sceptical that this will bring long term benefits for long suffering malaysian fans.

One of the best things about the xbox login in the xbone era is that they made it really easily to jump between regions so that there was no regional lock in. Unlike PSN where you need a different login for different regions(Still the same?)/ I hope that they will continue this even if it means that the south american marketplace will continue to be abused.

Ya even though i'm an xbox fan, i recommend to my non gamer friends to just go buy a ps just because it has better support and i don't have to give them detailed instructions on how to lie about their credit card details.

5ghz WiFi is known for its shorter range and the fact it doesn’t go through walls as well as 2.4ghz. I have my wifi set to a smart setting that combines both spectrums on the same SSid and even on the same floor some devices will not pick up 5ghz due to distance/walls

I used to feel that way too.. but I've lost a couple of motherboards and an xbox360 to lightning strikes over the years. Latency is not a priority for me so i never wire them up unless its temporary and i need that bandwidth.

This was from the surge coming in through the phone lines - back in the days when adsl was still a thing. Hasnt happened since i changed to fibre.

Bought the version with the season pass for 50% off when it was on sale. Halfway through as distracted with other game pass games.

I have absolutely no interest in baseball but it's so weird seeing the playstation logo on the xbox.

Not related but related somewhat. Yesterday got home and tried to turn on the xbox with my series x controllers. First the xbox wouldn't turn on. Then i pressed the button on the console which turned it on. But the controllers would turn off automatically after flashing once. Tried with USB-C cable but controller still turned off. Tried hard reset by holding button 3 secs no luck with getting controllers to stay on.

In the end, it was my LG CX magic remote (!) that let me go into the xbox settings menu to properly reset the console and finally the controllers worked. I suspect that this had something to do with the system update but who knows...

This time the magic remote saved my bacon and it works really well for media apps - you don't have to turn the controller on to tell netflix that i want to watch the credits etc..

Still don't know what happened.. i'm sure my xbox power settings are not tied to the tv.. as in i have to turn them on separately.

I'm just using the xbox for geo-fenced stuff like prime and disney+.

Otherwise, I kinda prefer the snappiness of the built in apps on my LG CX because you just turn on the tv and it's already there. Netflix boots up faster, HBO Go sucks but at least it is an app option, youtube is as fast as xsxIf it supports hdr it just switches automatically. Having said that it's been a long time since i actually downloaded something that needs vlc to play lol. Have you tried the plex app on the xsx? edit: i think they will have an audio passthrough feature in the app.

I use my xbox as a gaming and streaming device so I'm really quite excited about all the dolby vision improvements the xsx is getting. Apparently DV is in game for insiders in the alpha program. Games like forza already look awesome on my TV.

Also really happy with the news that the apple tv app is being updated for DV which gives me hope that other media apps will get updated. Netflix and Disney + already look really good on DV. Hope they update prime, hbo max and plex soon.

no, i meant that forza 7 and horizon already look good on normal HDR so can't wait for the DV upgrade.
