No matter what broadband u use from any private ISP (not hp telco). Their backbone still back to TMNET lah. They only settle the very front line traffic congestion, which is using wireless or fiber optic or wat kind of connection to connect from your place back to their OFFICE, then they still liase with TMNET backbone... That is why you said fast, but if traffic congestion is at the TMNET backbone. Then SLOW lah.. lol..

QUOTE(cy97 @ Aug 8 2007, 01:41 PM)
Actually Mykris is using wireless solution NOT fixed line by TM. What they do is they would set up a wireless station at the top of apartment and there would be router or what not ...than they would pull down cables, add switches and connect to each apartment that requires their service. What i do is just plug in the cable to my laptop and i am online just like streamyx. No dial-up, and you wish to share the line with other pc at your home just buy a router be wired or wireless. The speed is good and stable as shown below. Previously when i used digi edge, i would have to bring my laptop to Starbuck to download heavy stuff or doing windows update, and bt is taking like months to download a movie, with my current line, i have download more than 10 movies with daily usage up to 2 gig per day, looking at the fact that i only use it at night when i back from work. I believe another choice is Jaring wireless, but they charge you one lumpsump of 2K/2years (rediculous!). Anyway i still think that standalone wireless modem is still inferior compared to fixed line or wireless station based solution like Mykris.

I haven got the DIGI SIM card... btw, if your HP IPAQ shown and "E" on top mean the area u are in now has EDEGE service. If it change to "G" mean is GPRS... I m still playing with my IPAQ. Unfortunately i need to restore it back to factory default after corrupting something.. Anyway, u can use the CD provided and run the tools HP IPAQ setup Assitance to do the factory restore..

Yes! The same. I called HP tech support just now. Is the same way as yours that they ask me to do. I had called Digi Center & will get the SIM card today. But somehow, i ask them to activate the line for my on 16/8/07 and will terminate my streamyx on 20/8/07. Will update you guy again about the EDGE connection speed.

QUOTE(iRonTech @ Aug 13 2007, 11:04 AM)
I'm not sure WM6 is same features not, I've tried Asus P7 which WM6, it come with a small program call "Internet Sharing Connection", once u plug the USB to ur PC, (Active Sync will auto connect & sync), run the "ISC" (ISC will disable Active Sync & establish the gateway for ur PC.

Added on August 13, 2007, 12:21 pmhuh? I was told by HP tech support in the others way.. pls see my reply on that in the above thread.tq

QUOTE(ape @ Aug 13 2007, 11:35 AM)

For using of yr ipaq as modem, u just activate a program in yr phone called "modem link" then connecting the phone to yr notebook via usb/bluetooth. Yr phone will be automatically detected in win xp (vista i am not sure) as usb/wireless modem.

Afterward, setup a dial up with the following configurations:
username & password : blank
Dial no: *99#

U shld able to online now.

But, when i launch the Windows LIVE messenger. It uses the GPRS/EDGE services of my telco company instead of WIFI. How come? How to solve it? How do i know that it is using the GPRS is the "G" is "blinking" beside the service bar.. pls help..

Updates again. I gotten the Digi SIM card. The EDGE speed is dissapointed. I run a bandwidth test at jaring website.4 times. First time download speed as 77kbps, 2nd time 45kbps(dial up speed), 3rd time 28kbps, 4th time 50kbps. The upload speed is about 70kbps. I call to Digi & they are confirm the area i am at is coverage by EDGE and she said EDGE is 384kbps. And they promise to send a technition tommorrow to check it out.

My question here.
If my HP IPAQ 512 shown an "E" on the service bar when i connect to internet means i am using EDGE rite? Under IPAQ- Internet Sharing. I chose Digi GPRS (why not Digi EDGE) and connect using USB cable to notebook via active syn. With the infor, am i really connected to EDGE? or GPRS?tq very much

The batt will run out very fast i think 1 hour & 45 minuts.. U can't compare HP 520 with Acer. As HP is a business class notebook. It is more expensive compare to HP Compaq presario..

QUOTE(jimmylim85 @ Aug 14 2007, 11:20 PM)
btw can anyone tell me the notebook hp 520 battery life per charge? cause it only provide 4 cell 32WHr battery doh.gif...

I just seen my friend received the good today. The phone 512 seem nice to use. The notebook a bit akward... for price tag rm 2699, no TV-Out, no card reader and small battery pack sweat.gif and new design of touch pad. I think Acer Travelmate 4170 AMD TUrion64x2 at RM 1999 give more power and package than this 520 from HP.

I think they "taged" the so call professional users like CEO or business man do not need ATI Radeon 3D card, super Altec lancing speaker.. etc.. therefore, the business class notebook spec is a standard spec.

For batt.. yes.. is about that only.. It really runs out very fast. The time given is base on the battery estimated time stated on the system tray on Vista..

QUOTE(jimmylim85 @ Aug 15 2007, 01:14 AM)
what do we get from HP 520 so called business class when most of the stuff is not provided. other model and brand lower than that price tag gave so much more accessories and stuff.

Btw are you sure a full charge 4 cell battery for Intel Duo Core 1.6ghz can last 1 hour 45 mins? Cause my Acer 6 cell running at 800mhz on battery mode can last 3 hours with WiFi on.

Added on August 15, 2007, 10:54 amYesterday,I test until midnite. After the first few test. For the whole nite i only got the speed as a dial up connection speed at 33.6kbps or 50kbps. Off course i never expect the speed to be as fast as 384kbps. If i can get around anything from 120 to 200 kbps. I will not complain.

QUOTE(iRonTech @ Aug 15 2007, 08:16 AM)
u tested at night time? what about day time at different location?
As I said..don't expect EDGE as fast as your 512/1Mbps broadband.. by right, it should be compete with old day ISDN 128kbp. happy.gif

Sometime, I don't think those speed test can be a standard for us to judge the wireless speed performance as its "wireless", signal wave running up & down. smile.gif

try emule or browse certain web which running flash would be good to judge it.

Updates again ! I tested the EDGE using my IPAQ to my company notebook at my office. The EDGE speed is very very much better compare to my resident area(33-50kbps). Both is also coverage by EDGE. As, my hp show the "E" at the service bar. Mean it is connected to EDGE instead of GPRS. My office i can get 155kbps for download. How come? I will bring back this notebook and test it at my home to see is notebook,Vista issue or wat?

ic.. but the of 33-50kbps is really unacceptable. I will want Digi to solve my problem for my by hook or by crook. Else, it is a wast for me to sign up this data unlimited package.

QUOTE(iRonTech @ Aug 16 2007, 10:48 AM)
smile.gif thats the different location "free time slots" cause the connection. This issue ain't your phone or edge device. happy.gif

I've tested two different day & time at DiGi CS place (SS2 branch), both about 160kbps average. smile.gif

I'm quite satisfied with the speed as I bought Jaring 512kbps Wireless(SOMA) home, also around that speed.  sweat.gif
(But its big device..while DiGi just mobile phone whistling.gif)

Updates again.Digi promises to call me but never turn up.. Called them again, and was told that i need to bring my IPAQ to hp center to upgrade the firmware due to slow EDGE (below 50kbps).
I told them, there is nothing wrong on the phone as use this phone to act as a modem & test it out in my office area. The average speed is about 150kbps..
Then, they will need to forward to their network engineer AGAIN !!! How long they need to solve my problem!!!! bad service !!!

QUOTE(iRonTech @ Aug 16 2007, 04:47 PM)
erm...ya...below 50kbps...slower than dial-up...  sweat.gif  maybe u should monitoring more days in same place/area, check out if any changes smile.gif
