had 2 michel open face for over 20years.
made by solidgold helmets which produce ltd index sgv apollo etc.
ltd index sgv too tight for my head, only michel feels comfy.
tht was in the mid 90s.

early 2010s bought a SOL SO1, frm nks, tht time sol is marketed everywhere, brought in by winmaster (shark dist)
then they stopped dist SOL.

SOL quality, finishing, + features is good at tht time for the price. but d shape is still too oval..

michel retired i start to search for under rm100 helmet with removable inner with sirim sticker, for round kampung use,
finally found one by KHI, helmet also have drop down visor. rm120 or less.



i like retro open face helmets, out of curiosity i wana find one tht has inner drop down visor, with 3tabs and also air vents.
no branded helmet produce tht, manage to find one made by SOL,discontinued model, but taobao seller still has it, ship over here, lucky din stop by kastam..

Michel I know, and I remember pretty much the same about SGV brands that you mentioned. Had a hand down fullface too, very tight, so I sold it. Seems they still make SO-1. I think that time SOL and ZEUS helmets are the upper class open face helmets. Oval shape means it extends forward for better jaw coverage, right?

I had an Index, then got a Fibreglass JAX open face, a rare find, but was stolen off my bike on a day I had to park outside compound rushing to a class. Index dropped, crashed, changed liner for more times that it deserved, and finally started to crack open at the cheek. Found the GXT earlier this month, and this topic opened.

Belum berani buy Shoei yet. Recently notice got Shoei X13 Carbon Snake selling for RM900... mana tahu I think is MT Helmet clone.
Thinking get a used GT-Air try try premium helmet.

the k5 should be the asian fit version? if so, means your head rs more to round shape, even tho xl can fit, but its not ideal, more to oval shape.

did u check the weight of the xl compare to k5 L ?
