Regional programming is hard to do when all channels must pass through Kl for emergency censorship

Foreign news is held up a few minutes to allow anything controversial to be blanked out.
You used to see it from time to time when 1MDB came up on the BBC or SKY

How long we have to continue to waste bandwidth with parallel SD I don't know

......For the audio, well, YouTube's audio bitrate is 128kbps AAC-LC.
So definitely YouTube's one is better than MYTV digital TV ones (32kbps HE-AAC  doh.gif )
*
Any idea what Astro HD channel audio uses for comparison?

Even 64kbps HE-AAC Stereo would be a great improvement, getting rid of most of the obvious artifacts

Active boosters with a spike antenna really don't help much unless the decoder box has a really poor tuner. A small Yagi outdoors is much better

It should work. Yagi are odd antennas. To get a bit more gain requires a LOT more elements and a much bigger antenna

.......Both MUXes are almost full now (1 MUX has around 34Mbps bitrate). So, MUX 3 is expected to coming soon (that will require advance information for rescan STB/TV) or cause chaos like before, where RTM channels move MUX, moreover with possible addition of channels.
*
Adding a third MUX is really expensive. MYTV were supposed to install 3 MUX combiners at their sites, I don't know if they did.
You still have to add the third transmitter equipment and the extra distribution

The modulator and power amplifier are expensive. You will need new filters on the combiner every time you retune the channels as well.

Singapore is sitting on the entire 500 MHz block, which blocks Gunung Pulai being tuned down. Malaysia is getting squeezed on spectrum as the top end is given up to 5G, some serious negotiation with Singapore is needed, they should give up some of their block in exchange for the 5G

No. The frequency used at the moment are likely to be final. Unless MUX 3 is started of course, which will require retune.
*
MyTV uses ch45 and ch47, right at the top of the 600 MHz spectrum. The telcos are still trying to grab more of the TV spectrum by consolidating the TV downwards

Can you see Genting and the Batang Kali towers from your house?

Menara KL and Sg Besi are a bit far away

Getting the polarisation correct will give you ~20dB stronger signal immediately.
3C-2V cable is around 4db/10m attenuation at 666 MHz.
Astro style cable is MUCH better.

Analogue TV had much more powerful transmitter than digital, but it needs about 10x more to give a decent clean picture

Still looks like it might be a rubbish coaxial cable. Any writing on the cable?

thanks.

back at hometown, MYTV original decoder signal received is stronger than built-in TV decoder.
*
That does not mean much, the scale is arbitrary and these are not lab grade test equipment.
At one time hand phones used to play around with signal strength bars because a "stronger" signal was a selling point

Makes sense, probably free from the government, so raises channel count on the cheap.

Was RTM's existing logo not timeless enough, that they had to replace it?

Rebranding is very lucrative - the consultant designers fees, new uniforms, letterheads, business cards
Its only taxpayers money

in malaysia, i believe it when i see it.
do you know how long it takes for NTV7 to be available in the whole sarawak? even getting TV3 was painfully slow.
*
These are/were nominally commercial businesses and Sarawak was of little interest to their advertisers, but expensive to cover.
