Greetings guys, im planning to get a 32" Full HD LCD for my "coming" ps3, still saving money & need to do some financial planning. Already reserved 2k for ps3. I found that in the market, 32" 1080i are going between 1500 to 2000. Yet so see any 1080p around. Any good suggestion? by budget is within 3k. If i were to get 1080i, whats the best deal around and what model should i get?

from what i've read on forums, many people hate 1080i..
they say either go for 720p or 1080p and some claim 720p looks better than 1080i |

OH seriously... go for 720P.
And another thing.. i just found, if your tv has game mode... use it !! The textures are so much less washed out. GT5P was very visible. |

If you look on the web, articles would say that 720p is actually better than 1080i. Mainly due to progressive scanning versus interlacing.
I won't go into the technical details but off the top of my head, progressive scanning always shows a complete picture at any given moment versus interlacing, which only show every other lne at any moment (e.g. either odd lines, or even lines, hence the term interlacing). In layman's term, when you pause a video on progressive scanning, a moving object will look complete, like a normal still picture. And on interlacing, a moving object image will look blur. Enough and back to the original topic. At the moment, if you want full HD, you have to at least get a 42" LCD. The consumer market only has 720p max for 32 inchers. Sony on the other hand claims that their 32" can "accept" 1080p input, but picture quality wise I think it will still be scaled down to fit the screen. I think 32 inch 720p lcd tv is much better than 24 inch 1080p lcd monitor coz the screen size. you wont notice any major difference between 1080p and 720p for screen size below 40 inch.

Finally bought my tv after much soul searching. Took advice from friends that Full HD not worth it for below 40" and for my room 37" is ideal. So didn't take the Phillips 37" HD for 4300... instead bought the phillips 37TA2800 for 3350.
Oh oh.. just checked the specs only 1 hdmi input..hmm nevermind la. Play game only so no worries. Tomorrow get TV, going to play GTA4 yeah! PS: anyone can recommend me good surround sound set with speakers below 1k? For gaming pleasure This post has been edited by abasan: May 2 2008, 05:21 PM |
