Its already too much for AMD to cut price. The margin is too small. They should focus to introduce K10 on time and improving the architecture.

In my opinion, I think AMD will slash their price agian if K10 still keep on delay...
In my opinion, I think the material and labour cost to produce a processor is not that high. The research and developement cost which make the processor become so expensive. AMD K8 processor alrd produce more than 3 years, it is look like they alrd earn back the research and developement cost. Thats why i think they still can slash their price again. The margin still there. However, Intel just produce C2D around 1 year, if they slash their price again and again. Then, Intel may be the one who in trouble ? It is just my opinion, dont shoot me if i am wrong.. This post has been edited by darnell: Jul 13 2007, 03:34 PM |

QUOTE(darnell @ Jul 13 2007, 04:33 PM) In my opinion, I think AMD will slash their price agian if K10 still keep on delay... Funny take, and rather true on the AMD side. They're definitely having nice profit cuts from more base units sold, even if it wasn't as lubricious as last year. Intel has sold enough C2Ds to not care much; their profit margins aren't as nice as what people expect though. In my opinion, I think the material and labour cost to produce a processor is not that high. The research and developement cost which make the processor become so expensive. It is just my opinion, dont shoot me if i am wrong.. Even if Penryn hi-k and 45nm process required quite some investments (it looks to be) and Barcelona with its supposedly godly FPU blows it away clock by-clock (on price it would be lower; K10 is still a sibling to K8, being rather distant though), Intel will still survive. Branding bullying sucks, as sheep get carried away. Almost 14 months ago, a Newegg ad on PC Gamer USA (Malaysian version is terrible) was advertising the Athlon X2 4600+ for RM2000++!!! |

Yeah, and when AMD's prices dropped drastically, imagine what happened to single-core proc value. My 3500+ single-core which I bought for RM 11xx was just recently sold for RM 12x only!!!...... |

Even u buy a Intel Quad core or AMD X2 now, it will depreciate a lot after one or two years. As long as u use it, then it is worth.. |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jul 15 2007, 02:43 PM) i guess technology is like that, as long ppl want better and more powerful products, nevertheless prices of older things are gonna drop, BUT why isnt proc prices like ddr1 vs ddr2.. should single core chips be higher priced since its older than dual core? This post has been edited by a1098113: Jul 15 2007, 03:18 PM |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jul 15 2007, 03:43 PM) yaya. Really want to cry when we saw the price for processor drop so fast..but it is all like that.. Just buy a suitable processor for ourselves, it is enough. Some mid end processor like AMDX2 BE2350 is a good choice for normal user alrd. |

All of this are the result of tough competition between them.
